Vitamin D Papers Top List of Most Popular Studies of The Year and There’s Good Reason for It

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In the journal Nutrients the top studies for most downloads, highest views, most-cited are all papers on vitamin D and Covid.  The study with the most downloads in the past year and the all-time highest number of views is a vitamin D paper, by Bhattoa, which found vitamin D supplementation reduced the risk of influenza and Covid infections and deaths.

The most-cited study in the past year is a vitamin D paper, by Annweiler et. al.  This study found vitamin D supplementation improved survival in frail elderly hospitalised with Covid.

And a scientific review, by Dr. Joseph Mercola, William Grant, Ph.D., and Dr. Carol Wagner, is the second-most downloaded study, second in citations for articles and fourth for views in the past 12 months. This paper found that data from 14 observational studies suggest vitamin D blood levels are inversely correlated with the incidence and/or severity of Covid.

“All of this is incredibly encouraging, and demolishes the ridiculous claim that there’s “no scientific basis” for the recommendation of vitamin D for COVID. Vitamin D optimisation is likely the easiest, least expensive and most fundamental beneficial strategy that anyone can do to minimize their risk of Covid and other infections.

To improve your immune function and lower your risk of viral infections, you’ll want to maintain a vitamin D level between 60 ng/mL and 80 ng/mL (150 nmol/L and 200 nmol/L). Vitamin D optimization is particularly important for dark-skinned individuals, as the darker your skin, the more sun exposure you need to raise your vitamin D level, as well as the elderly.”

In the video below Dr. Roger Seheult, lead professor at MedCram, explains the important role Vitamin D may have in the prevention and treatment of Covid.  Prof. Seheult illustrates how Vitamin D works, summarises the best available data and clinical trials on vitamin D, and discusses vitamin D dosage recommendations.

“We’ve been talking about vitamin D as a therapeutic for Covid-19 since March [2020] and since that time a lot of other people have become involved in looking at that agent, as well a number of research studies have been done, and the purpose of this is to sort of look at the evolution and the thinking of the use of vitamin D in Covid-19,” Prof. Seheult said.

“The first thing you’ve got to understand is that vitamin D is not just a vitamin.  Vitamin D is actually a hormone.” Watch to find out more.

Covid doesn’t exist so any study claiming that something is an effective treatment is just more bullshit.

I know people who’ve felt sick in ways that they’ve never felt before. But, it didn’t feel like a virus to them. It felt more like radiation therapy or chemotherapy, like when people get cancer. It sucked the life out of them. It didn’t spread from person-to-person the way a virus typically does. The time it took to heal from it was also totally different (sometimes much shorter, sometimes much longer). I do think people are getting sick from something. I just don’t think that the official explanations make any sense.

I don’t think it’s 5G, either. No one I know has a 5G phone, and most of the area is rural with few cell towers and poor cell phone reception.

I think pretty much everyone’s sick of the lies, though. That’s for darn sure.

For the most pertinent research on vitamin D, the immune system and COVID-19, please see https//

Despite me writing to Dr Mercola for over a year, he continues to cite the 100% fake “Raharusun” (no such author exists) article, his ref 19, about which he states: “In another study, COVID-19 patients with a vitamin D level between 21 ng/mL (50 nmol/L) and 29 ng/mL (75 nmol/L) had a 12.55 times higher risk of death than those with a level above 30 ng/mL. Having a level below 20 ng/mL was associated with a 19.12 times higher risk of death.” See for the details of this and two other fake articles from April May 2020.  Dr Mercola cites the same bogus data in a bogus graph by Lorenz Borshe at, in a video linked from there.
This is the pandemic of the vitamin D deficient and those who have been denied early treatment.

Please also see for an article on the seasonality of COVID-19 and influenza being primarily due to vitamin D.

I have little doubt that many cases of so-called Covid are simply chronic Vitamin D deficiency. The symptoms include respiratory problems, aching joints, etc. It is estimated that, under normal circumstances, 50-90% of people are Vitamin D deficient. Now, since 2019 we have been in a grand solar minimum, the most severe in 100 years. This means less UV light available, which the skin uses to make Vitamin D, using cholesterol. Add to that the “war on cholesterol” to lower heart disease. In the US 30% of the population is on statins, more among the elderly. Less UV light + less cholesterol = lower Vitamin D levels. Studies have shown that 80% of people with Covid are Vitamin D deficient and, if given the vitamin, they recover quickly. I have dosed “Covid patients” with Vitamin D supplements and they have recovered quickly. There is no need to bring any virus into the explanation for the current situation!
