A planned mass demonstration by farmers against the UK government’s inheritance tax changes has been significantly scaled back by the National Farmers Union (NFU) as it has been blocked by police restrictions.

Initially, thousands of farmers were expected to converge on London on 19 November to protest the new tax regime, which will impose a 20% inheritance tax on agricultural assets worth over £1 million.
However, the NFU announced that the event would be limited to 1,800 attendees, citing “legal issues” and “logistical constraints.” This move has been criticised by some farmers, including Jeremy Clarkson, who accused the NFU of being complicit in the government’s efforts to suppress the protest.
Clarkson, a prominent farmer and TV personality, had initially planned to ferry a group of farmers from the Cotswolds to London for the protest. However, he was forced to abandon his plans due to the restrictions imposed by the NFU and the Metropolitan Police.
The police have maintained that they have not banned the protest outright, but rather are working with organisers to ensure a peaceful and safe event. The police statement emphasised that they apply the same legislative framework to all protest notifications, without favour or prejudice.
Despite the scaled-back protest, farmers remain vocal in their opposition to the inheritance tax changes. Many believe the new regime will devastate family farms and rural communities, leading to food shortages and economic hardship.
The controversy has sparked debate about the government’s treatment of farmers and the two-tier standards in policing protests. While pro-Palestinian rallies have been allowed to proceed with larger numbers, the farmers’ protest has been restricted.
Clarkson questioned why pro-Palestine and Just Stop Oil demonstrations had the green light to go ahead in greater numbers than the farmers were being permitted.
“Perhaps if I had draped my tractor in a Palestinian flag it would be different,” he commented in the Sun. “It seems that if you are from Just Stop Oil or protesting about Gaza, you can do what you want. But farmers are treated differently by a government that is waging an all-out war on the countryside.”
The dispute highlights the ongoing tensions between farmers and the government over agricultural policy and taxation. The inheritance tax changes take effect in April 2026 and farmers will continue to fight for their rights and livelihoods.
At the same time, the public is getting behind UK farmers. A week ago, we published an article about the farmers’ protest on 19 November. In that article, we mentioned a petition which at the time of writing had just under 71,000 signatures. Less than six days later, the petition has more than doubled and it has 174,693 signatures. If you want to support our farmers and help them to survive the Government’s destructive agricultural policies, you can start by signing the petition HERE.

[…] – Police are blocking the massive farmers’ protest planned for 19 November in London […]
Well let’s be reasonable here. How can our sterling government starve us to death if they let farmers make food. I mean, it stands to reason in’it. Way too many Brits refused the safe and effective vaccination, so way too many people are hale and healthy and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that these rebels may lynch all politicians, and then where would we be?
Are you kidding!?.
The authorities appear not to understand the concept of a protest.
Hopefully November 19th will be a timely reminder that it isn’t up to them who may or may not attend.
They might turn this protest into a riot?
OK then, all farmers get your tractors and fill all three lanes on the M25 instead.
Let’s not get diverted into the unfairness compared to other demo’s. That’s what they want. It’s infantile to whine about it. We must understand that the other demo’s are permitted or even encouraged as they support the globalist’s agenda. This attack on food is part of this agenda so they will prevent any demo that might be successful in stopping it. It’s nothing to do with fairness.
So Britain is now a police state run by a Marxist Government and that is what Labour is! So now you Labourites responsible for Voting Labour into power hang your heads in shame for what you have done to help STARMER in his nefarious work and hallelujah that President Trump is back that should make Labour Shudder as he gives no quarter to the Left! Nazis will be Nazis until Humans stop them from being Nazis!
In protesting against having our life destroyed we presumed slaves are only allowed to do so in a way that fits our oppressive supposed owners and also upholds their deceptive illusion of democracy. But protesting on our own terms is an integral part of any protest since anything else are just whiny petitions. Hope they bring out the manure spreaders for Harmer and give him the right smell.
I don’t believe I’ve ever once signed a petition; I’m NOT going to start now!
They only get sent to the Houses of Parliament for ‘debate’ and ‘consultation’ and then summarily dismissed. Petitions have that illusory effect of making the signatory feel like he’s done something!
Certainly, people can’t succeed in any meaningful protest within the establishments ‘legal’ framework, so they’ve got us by “the short and curlys” as it were.
And I don’t advocate violence of any sort (except self defence of course) so what is to be done?
The illusion of democracy and it’s fraudulent rules works by the casino principle were the house always wins in it’s long game. To have a just chance you either have to cheat or make up rules of your own.
Have never signed a cry out petition since I don’t beg and don’t vote no more since I don’t participate in their meaningless BS charades.
I’m more of an insane asylum observer from within and I’ve learned it is quite impossible to help the other patients snap out off it. But it is nevertheless a bit entertaining once in a while since a dark sense of humor is a faithful companion.
Can’t protest in the traditional ways anymore. Have to be bubble protests. Break big groups into smaller ones. Any time one group starts to get too big, break apart, move and form more bubbles.
Otherwise, the people are lined up across from authority, as in ‘contention’. Much more peaceful to form bubbles and avoid the confrontation.

Details from UK Farmer on planned protest in UK.
if police are concerned about safety they would have arrested those ppl complicit in the covid genocide.
political enforcers, corrupted top to bottom.
💯 percent correct
Wouldn’t placing the family farm in a family trust solve the inheritance tax problem?
Sadly, we’ve gone way past that ‘solution ‘.

This is an existential struggle. Loose this one, and the human race is finished.
How about Clarkson joins the bloody dots, it’s not too difficult & speaks up about the Convid farce. It’s ALL related.
