The UK government is manufacturing brand-new bird flu pathogens with enhanced traits in the very same way US agencies admit covid-19 most likely began – inside a lab, Jon Fleetwood writes.
Writing about a study published on 1 September, Fleetwood describes how researchers, most of whom are from the Animal and Plant Health Agency (“APHA”), have engineered the H5N8 virus so it gained the ability to cause neurological disease and engineered the H5N1 virus to prolong host survival and enable contamination of the environment with the virus.
APHA is an executive agency of the UK Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (“Defra”). The research to engineer the viruses was funded by Defra and the Devolved Administrations of Scotland and Wales.
H5N8 and H5N1 are avian influenza viruses commonly known as “bird flu.” Although not covered in Fleetwood’s article below, it’s interesting to note that a study by the Indian Institute of Science in August found that the currently circulating H5N1 has specific mutations in its genome that increase its human adaptive potential. In other words, the virus was evolving to allow it to infect humans. Coincidence?

UK Engineers 2 New Bird Flu Viruses With Neurological and Transmission Gains: ‘Journal of General Virology’
A peer-reviewed study published Monday in the Journal of General Virology (Billington et al., 1 September 2025) confirms that UK government scientists at the Animal and Plant Health Agency (“APHA”) have engineered two new H5 bird flu viruses in the laboratory.
The move follows Russia’s Vector Institute openly engineering a lab-made H5N8 bird flu spike protein – chemically altered with pseudouridine and framed as “mRNA vaccine development” – which plugs directly into the worldwide bird flu pandemic countermeasure pipeline.
Built using reverse genetics, the UK’s newly engineered viruses displayed brand new functions: H5N8 caused neurological disease in ducks, while H5N1 gained a transmission advantage.
In other words, scientists in the UK created fresh lab-built versions of H5N8 and H5N1, and the experiments showed H5N8 learned how to attack the brain while H5N1 learned how to spread more efficiently.
The implications for worldwide bird flu pandemic orchestration are immediate and alarming.
The creation of these brand-new pathogens comes after Congress, the White House, the Department of Energy, the FBI, and the CIA acknowledged that a lab-related incident involving gain-of-function research is most likely the origin of covid-19, raising concerns that ongoing government experiments like these could trigger another deadly pandemic.
Put bluntly, the UK government is now manufacturing brand-new bird flu pathogens with enhanced traits in the very same way US agencies admit covid-19 most likely began – inside a lab.
Lab-Created Viruses
The team did not just observe wild flu strains.
They built new versions of H5N1 and H5N8 in the lab by genetic modification.
As the study explains, “De-engineered versions of both viruses were generated by substituting the multi-basic cleavage site (MBCS) with a single-basic cleavage site (SBCS) via reverse genetics (RG).”
Reverse genetics in new virus creation refers to the process of generating viruses with specific genetic changes by manipulating viral genetic material in the laboratory to produce recombinant or engineered viruses for alleged research or vaccine development.
In plain language: scientists deliberately re-coded the purported viruses to change how they behave, creating entirely new pathogens for experimentation.
New Neurological Function in H5N8
When tested in ducks, the engineered H5N8 virus showed a disturbing new neurological profile never before documented in this way.
The authors report: “Ducks infected with H5N8-W2 also exhibited more severe neurological signs, including tremors (seven counts), torticollis (one count) and seizures (one count).”
In other words, the engineered H5N8 made ducks shake, twist their necks and convulse.
The scientists linked this to brain invasion: “High REU titres in the brain are consistent with the increased neurological impact of the H5N8-W2-infected ducks.”
This means the virus wasn’t just in the lungs or gut – it penetrated the brain and multiplied there, proving it had gained neurological tropism, [Neurological tropism, also known as neurotropism, refers to the ability of a pathogen, such as a virus, to infect and replicate within cells of the nervous system].
New Transmission Function in H5N1
By contrast, the engineered H5N1 virus was said to spare its hosts, but gained the function of spreading further.
The study confirms: “All ducks infected with H5N1-W2 survived until the end of the study (14 dpi), whereas only 50% of those infected with H5N8-W2 survived.”
That means while H5N8 killed half the ducks outright, H5N1 kept every duck alive.
But survival came with a trade: prolonged shedding and environmental spread.
The authors write: “Environmental contamination was found in the drinking and pond water with vRNA detected from 3 dpi in both groups, but less consistently in the H5N8-W2 group … Airborne vRNA was only detected at 7 dpi in the H5N1-W2 group.”
Put simply, H5N1 contaminated water and even air, and it did so more reliably than H5N8. By keeping its hosts alive longer and ensuring they shed virus into the environment, H5N1 gained a transmission advantage.
Pandemic Orchestration Implications
This study is not about natural drift. It documents the deliberate creation of novel bird flu viruses with new functional traits.
H5N8 emerged with the ability to invade the brain, while H5N1 evolved to spread better by prolonging host survival and contaminating the environment.
These engineered features mirror the very dynamics that could drive a bird flu pandemic in the real world: neurological severity on one side, efficient transmission on the other.
And they were produced – and tested – under government control in a UK laboratory.
Bottom Line
The UK’s APHA laboratory has engineered brand new H5 viruses that went on to display gain-of-function outcomes: neurological disease in H5N8 and transmission advantage in H5N1.
In the authors’ own words, ducks infected with H5N8 “exhibited more severe neurological signs, including tremors … and seizures,” while H5N1-infected ducks “all survived” but shed virus longer with “airborne vRNA” detected.
This means scientists are not only recreating pandemic-capable influenza viruses but enhancing their dangerous properties.
The implications are global: orchestrated laboratory engineering is accelerating the very traits that could fuel the next bird flu pandemic.

Now you report an article saying this new bird flu has implications for causing ‘another deadly pandemic’. Which is it? Was covid a deadly pandemic warranting lockdown or not? Hi Susan Askew, here are the basics:
Like covid, they continue to engineer viruses in laboratories using gain-of-function. As with coronaviruses, they have been working on bird flu viruses for a long time. We have published articles in the past on the experiments over about 20 years on bird flu and the lab leaks from these laboratories causing localised outbreaks (mainly around the labs which are conducting these experiments).
When scientists engineer a virus in a lab, they only know its effects on the animals they are testing it on. For example, with covid they used humanised mice. In the case of the bird flu strains in the article above, it is ducks. These tests are done under laboratory conditions. They do not know how it will work in the real world (i.e. outside laboratory conditions) until they release it into the real world.
So far, their gain-of-function viruses have not worked as they had hoped in the real world. They hoped covid would spread like wild fire and kill a lot of people, in reality, for the most part, it caused the common cold (a few people may have got a more severe flu) and within a few months populations had herd immunity, i.e. their virus had became ineffective. So they had to turn to psychological operations to create the fear of a pandemic so everyone would line up for a vaccine. And what was in the vaccine? The pathogen they had created in the lab, once they have the genetic sequence they can share that sequence via a computer model so that vaccine manufacturers can replicate it and put it into vaccines (i.e. make a virus to put into the vaccines that contains the genetic sequence developed in a lab). It is the vaccines that are causing the harm they had hoped would happen when they “leaked” the virus from the lab into the real world. So is the covid virus harmful/deadly? Yes it is, but only when its injected into you and so bypasses your innate immune system.
Covid was not the first time they have tried to do this, some say there have been up to 20 attempts before covid (swine flu being the most notable). Covid was not their first attempt using a coronavirus either, since 2002 every single coronavirus strain (which cause seasonal colds, every year) is the result of a virus that at some time has been engineered in a lab. Covid was to date, however, their most successful attempt (because they had learnt from swine flu how to more effectively carry out a psychological operation, they had changed definitions of vaccine and pandemic, had implemented more pandemic laws etc). Covid will not be their last pandemic attempt. We can expect them to use the same formulaic game plan to manufacture more pandemics in the future. They have learned their lessons from covid, and will close the gaps that allowed pesky “conspiracy theorists” get the word out and for people to resist taking the vaccine.
Bird flu is another reiteration of covid/coronavirus, and for years they have been trying to start a “pandemic” with it, if you search for “bird flu” on our site, you’ll see we’ve pushed several articles on this, the above is just the latest. Now they are also attempting to use mosquitoes to spread their engineered pathogens, Bill Gates sees mosquitoes as his “flying vaccinators.” So instead of “leaking” an engineered virus from a lab into e.g. a wet market in China, I guess he hopes to “leak” the viruses using mosquitoes.

Hi Reverend Scott, I presume you have no problem taking the vaccine then? Because by your logic, if there is not a covid virus, then it is not in the vaccine either. If you are telling people the vaccines do no harm, “go ahead and take it because there is no virus, the harms caused by the pathogen in the vaccine is a hype about nothing because the pathogen does not exist,” I hope no one listens to your advice.
You constantly conflate the “virus” and the vaccine. There was no pathogen spreading from person to person causing a pandemic. That was a psy-op. That does not mean that the shots are not lethal and harmful. Clearly they are but they do not contain anything that meets the definition of a virus.
Sam, I do not conflate the virus and the vaccine. I have always said the virus is in the vaccine – just as has been the case for 200+ years. They were originally called virus vaccines – there’s a clue in the name. To show that to the conspirators the intention of a vaccine is to inject people with a virus, I frequently use the abbreviation “virus = vaccine” or say “virus is doublespeak for vaccine.” This is not conflating the two, it is demonstrating an understanding of what they are doing and have done for a long time, since the first virus vaccine. But then you know all of this. You are simply having a go at me to divert attention from yourself.

You are NOT saying the “virus” is only in the shots. You are saying it was released prior to the shots being given. There was no virus at all. There were iatrogenic murders and those were blamed on the imaginary virus.
I am both a scientist and an activist. There is nothing wrong with that. I never resort to pseudoscience like virologists and climate scientists. I always stay truthful. Those that were murdered deserve truth and justice and not fairy tales about a fake virus.
Science and activism does not mix. Activists use pseudoscience to disseminate their beliefs or message (propaganda). Unless you’ve been living under a rock, there have been enough “doctors” and “scientists” on TV promoting the fear mongering about covid and vaccines to prove that.
Yes, it is very possible that the virus was “leaked” out of the lab in Wuhan. It is also possible it was “leaked” into e.g. Italy and New York to kick start the PsyOp. Non-activist researchers are finding it difficult to conclude if this happened or not based on the available evidence. The evidence for these “leaks” will one day be proved or not proved in court. Again, unless you’ve been living under a rock all these years, you will know all of this.
The problem is you are an activist and so you are unable to process information in an unbiased way. So perhaps this is why you have skipped over all of this important information over the years and cherry picked what suits what you want to believe.

Everything you say about viruses can easily be refuted. The Expose have in the past published several articles that refute the pseudoscience of virology (including several written by me). It seems you have learned nothing and keep reverting back to this “gain of function” psy-op nonsense. Poor journalism as Susan rightly points out. The truth matters and there is no truth in this article. This nonsense will be used to attack our food supply as well as us.

I have not boasted about anything. I was asked about my background so i explained truthfully. I haven’t created a single virus because they don’t exist. It only takes minutes to manipulate genetic sequences that only exist on computer like viral genomes. Its as simple as changing some t’s, c’s, g’s and a’s.
