Why Am I Blocked?
Many of our readers value privacy and use VPNs, Tor, or similar tools to access our news.
Due to the nature of our reporting, our website is under relentless attack from malicious actors.
To keep our site safe, fast and available for everyone, we use advanced security and content distribution systems—including Cloudflare CDN, SPAM Content Checkers and RealTime Website threat blocking.
Why Do We Need These Protections?
- Constant Attacks:
Our site is targeted daily by:- Denial of Service (DoS) attacks
- Spam bots
- Automated vulnerability scans (including attempts at SQL injection)
- Brute force login attempts
- System scans of our directories
- Comment Spam:
Over 20% of all traffic to our comment system is from automated bot spam attacks.
This level of abuse means we must be extra vigilant to protect our readers and our platform.
How IP Blocking Works
- Temporary IP Blocks:
If you see a block message, it means the IP address you’re using was recently flagged for suspicious activity or abuse—often because someone else using the same VPN or Tor exit node attacked our site.
This block is temporary and is not aimed at you personally. - VPNs and Shared IPs:
Many VPN services and privacy browsers use shared IP addresses. If someone else using the same IP address misbehaved, that IP may be blocked for a period of time.
What Can You Do?
- Change Your VPN Server:
Disconnect and reconnect to your VPN to get a new IP address.
If you’re using Tor, click “New Circuit” or restart your browser for a new exit node. - Try Different Locations:
Many VPNs let you choose from different countries or cities. Try switching to another region if you’re still blocked. - Keep Swapping Until It Works:
If you encounter another block, repeat the process. Most users find an IP that works within a few tries.
Additional Information
- Blocks Are Temporary:
IPs are only blocked for a limited time. If you return later, you may find the block has been lifted. - We Respect Your Privacy:
We do not block VPNs or privacy browsers by default. Our system only blocks IPs that have recently been used for attacks or abuse. - Still Having Trouble?
If you continue to have issues, please contact us (if possible, include a screenshot of the error message, your VPN provider and IP Address) or CloudFlare Ray ID. We’ll do our best to help. - Security and Protection to keep our service running cost us money. Please consider supporting us.
