US government enforces showing a national ID before boarding domestic flights

A US government policy that takes effect next year will crush domestic air travel under the guise of national security.

The scheme will disqualify many Americans from boarding domestic flights unless they show a national ID.

“It appears the goal here is to shut down air travel for a large portion of the American public,” Leo Hohmann writes.

“How convenient that this dove-tales perfectly with the globalist climate agenda known as “net zero emissions,” in which they have stated they want to see dramatically fewer people travelling by air,” he adds.

The following is extracted for the article ‘US government will ban Americans from air travel effective May 2025 unless they have federalised ‘Real ID‘ driver’s license’ by Leo Hohmann.

Independent journalist Patrick Webb reports that the US government plans to launch its heavily criticised federal ID program, called Real ID, for domestic air travel on 7 May 2025.

Webb stated in a series of Twitter (now X) posts on Sunday that this will ban all adults from domestic flights unless they have replaced traditional state-issued IDs with Real IDs, raising significant concerns about privacy and state surveillance.

I decided to fact-check Webb and found him to be spot on.

On the government’s own Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”) website, it states:

This change raises major concerns about privacy and state surveillance.

In the wake of the 9/11 attacks, Congress passed the Real ID Act in 2005 (signed by George W. Bush) and it was presented by the Department of Homeland Security as a means to standardise the issuance of ID cards, driver’s licenses, and similar forms of identification. But what this really represents is a national ID card through back-door means. Nothing could be more un-American than a national ID card but come 7 May of next year we will all need to have one or be treated as second-class citizens.

The only other option is a US passport.

But here’s the rub: Fewer than half of Americans possess a passport, according to the US Department of State.

Without a passport, adults will be left with Real ID or so-called Enhanced ID as their only options. However, as noted by Webb, the Enhanced IDs will only be valid for land or sea travel to Mexico and Canada, not for domestic flights. Not to mention, Enhanced IDs are only issued by five states – Washington, Michigan, Minnesota, New York and Vermont.

So, it appears the goal here is to shut down air travel for a large portion of the American public, certainly those who are concerned about government abuse of the new federalised Real ID program. How convenient that this dove-tales perfectly with the globalist climate agenda known as “net zero emissions,” in which they have stated they want to see dramatically fewer people travelling by air.

Why the states ever allowed the federal government to hijack the identification process is beyond me. But why should we be surprised, as the states have allowed the feds to hijack just about everything, including the roads we drive on, our education system, the firearms business, all labour and housing, healthcare, food production and distribution – everything.

Webb reports that privacy watchdog groups like the Electronic Frontier Foundation (“EFF”) argue that the US government is essentially forcing states to turn driver’s licenses into national IDs, “which carry severe privacy implications.

EFF asserts that the purported goal of improving national security will not be met and instead, Real ID will lead to the erosion of privacy and the expansion of state surveillance, Webb says.

EFF likens Real ID to the Social Security number, which began as an innocuous identifier but evolved into a crucial component of numerous government services and private databases of personal information.

The American Civil Liberties Union (“ACLU”) shares these concerns, emphasising the financial and administrative burdens of Real ID. The ACLU has joined states in opposing the law and advocating for its repeal.

Real ID has been around for a while. It’s concurrent with our driver’s license. Just like a passport we had to provide a birth certificate, current driver’s license, and a utility bill to prove we were born here and live in the state. It’s only going to keep people who aren’t from here from traveling by air.

I doubt it. Illegals fly everywhere and bypass security at the airports. So they will continue to get that privilege while US citizens continue to get abused. Gucking foverment .

This not new news.

That gold star on the ID is what you must have and they have just not enforced it until now. Most modern ID’s / driving licenses even here in SC have that gold star on it.

They want ID for air travel but NOT for voting for the government that rules us. Great. Whose side are they on?
I was born in the US & lived here for 80 years & cannot fly now, BUT illegals are being flown all over with MY tax money. Is there not something radically WRONG with this picture?

I came back to this article for a reason. I live a weird life alright but I like me I have my beliefs and ideals.

When a government body issues that real ID should it not accept liability for all criminal behavior that uses that ID? Ya see I am responsible for myself, do no harm, help people on the back of this RealID.

Now go ask an illegal after they have committed rape or murder carrying this validated and all justified government ID. When one knows everything and everything is 100% controlled government aided and abetted the guilty party.

Spruce it up how you want but it is the truth and government needs to start paying for its actions and $1500 for Myocarditis from a vaxx is not enough, 1 million maybe more. The girl who got raped and murdered in Georgia by an illegal recently, Biden should pay the family at least $10 million.

Make them pay … they have not got enough money for the responsibility they demanded for themselves.

If government was forced to pay compensation for all its atrocities it would be out of business by nightfall.

This is crazy. Since the 80’s I’d record my name to book a Greyhound Coach Bus across the country after paying for it. What the heck are people going on about?

Americans are oblivious to the fact that their Republic was replaced with a Corporation 150 years ago. USA Inc. is tightening the screws, increasing the boot pressure upon the neck. Americans have no rights, only privileges at the whim of The Crown.

This article is nonsense. It won’t stop any Americans from flying because it has already been here for a while. It will only stop illegals. The author must be upset that illegals are being inconvenienced.

Any American with a drivers license that has a star (just about all) is covered. Anyone who does not drive can get a non drivers id from motor vehicle.

And why would “the illegals…[be] inconvenienced???” They do not carry identification on them. As a matter of fact, they make sure to leave their IDs, and anything that could ID them, on the other side of the border before crossing to the U.S. They are flown anywhere in the country that they choose with our extortion money, er, I mean tax money. So, I am confused about your response.

Furthermore, this will and already has stopped A LOT of Americans from flying. I am one of them. When they initially presented the federal ID/DL, I was ready to do it. I gathered all necessary documents in order to obtain one.

Then, I awakened to what is REALLY going on. Four years of deep research led me down rabbit holes that I had to claw my way out of, just to fall down another one. What I have learned, heard and saw cannot be undone. Once you know the truth, you cannot un-know it or forget it. So, when it was time to renew my STATE DL, that is all I did. Even the lady at the DMV quietly agreed with me about not getting a federal ID.

If you do not think the “powers” are going to use this federal ID in conjunction with social credit scores and your $$, then you should probably put on your little critical thinking cap and do some serious research. I do not mean Google or Wikipedia, I mean deep dives.
