Former UNEP director Erik Solheim spews out so much disinformation at COP29 that The New American could not air their interview without fact-checking it

In 2017, UNEP launched a programme called UN Faith For Earth Initiative to bring together all the religions of the world to take care of “Mother Earth.”  At the Faith for Earth Pavilion at the United Nations’ COP29, The New American interviewed Erik Solheim.

During the interview, Solheim spouted so much misinformation that The New American felt the interview could not simply be aired, as they would usually do, but it needed to be paused, fact-checked and corrected.

What is the UN Faith for Earth Initiative?

The UN Faith for Earth Initiative is a collaborative effort between the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and faith-based organisations.

It has two key objectives.  One is to support the implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda (SDGs) through faith-based organisations (“FBOs”).

The other is to mobilise the vast interfaith network of grassroots faith leaders, faith-based organisations and community members to respond to climate-related concerns at local, national and regional levels.

Who is Erik Solheim?

Erik Solheim was the head of the UN Environment Programme (“UNEP”) until he got in a little bit of hot water for having a carbon footprint the size of a small African country.  In less than 2 years, he spent $500,000 of taxpayers’ money jet-setting around the world, flying to exotic destinations and staying at nice fancy hotels.

He’s a socialist leader. In fact, he was a member of Norway’s Socialist Left Party and served as its leader from 1987 to 1997.  He served as Norway’s Minister of International Development and Minister of the Environment.  Since 2019, Solheim has been a member of the Green Environmental Party.

Erik Solheim World Economic Forum

He has held various prominent positions including Executive Director of UNEP, chair of the Development Assistance Committee (“DAC”) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (“OECD”), Minister of International Development and Environment (Norway) and acted as the main facilitator of the peace process in Sri Lanka from 1998 to 2005, leading to a ceasefire and the Oslo Declaration in 2002. He has also played a vital role in peace efforts in Nepal, Myanmar, and Sudan.  He also put into place Norway’s Nature Diversity Act.

Solheim is currently President of the Belt and Road Green Development Initiative in Beijing, senior adviser at World Resource Institute, chief mentor to Global Alliance for Sustainable Planet, chairman of the board of Afroz Shah Foundation, senior adviser to green business companies April, Treelion, Morrow and Aker Horizons, chair of the development roundtable of the Green Hydrogen Organisation and CEO of the Plastic REVolution Foundation.

Solheim’s Disinformation at COP29

The New American interviewed Solheim at the Faith for Earth Pavilion at the COP29.  Solheim spewed out so much misinformation that Alex Newman felt it was necessary to at least fact-check some of the “bigger whoppers.”

“We’re not gonna address every little misstatement he made, but some of the stuff was just way too big to allow to pass, without comment,” The New American host Alex Newman said.

Newman asked Solheim what he envisioned the role of pastors, priests, bishops and imams was in soliciting their congregations to get involved in the fight for, a sustainable world.

Solheim answered, “I’m not aware of any religion where nature is not front and centre. I mean, look, in the bible, it starts with God creating this wonderful, beautiful world.  After 7 days, he’s so happy with what he has created that he [should] take a day off to celebrate.”

Oops. There must be few people in the world who don’t know God created the world and everything in it in 6 days and rested on the 7th day.

Solheim’s ignorance of the main religion and its text – the faith that has the most followers worldwide with approximately 93 million Bibles distributed globally per year – doesn’t stop there.  Without pausing for a breath, he said authoritatively, “And the bible ends with John sitting at a Greek island having a great vision of our flood. So, nature’s front and centre in the bible, and protecting that is a duty of all Christians.”

The Christian Bible doesn’t end with a vision of a great flood.  The great flood happened during Noah’s lifetime.  Again, there must be very few people who have not heard of the term “Noah’s flood.”  According to the biblical genealogies and chronology, the flood occurred around 2350 BC or 2348 BC; that’s over 4,370 years ago.

And in the context of Christians’ duty to put nature front and centre.  He is referring to reducing carbon dioxide (CO2).  CO2 is the gas of life.  Why would Christians want to reduce CO2 and so reduce the ability for plants to survive?

What Solheim says next is truly astounding.  He said, “In my view [ ] all pastors should, of course, tell their congregations, we need to be kinder to ‘Mother Earth’; that’s the demand, the message from God.”

The term “Mother Earth” is not a Christian concept.  Christians do not have a spiritual mother.  Christians only have a spiritual father, God in heaven.  “Mother Earth” is a concept used by sects such as Hinduism, Paganism, Wicca, Gaianism and Theosophy, Why would a Christian pastor encourage their congregation to follow paganism?

The above is only his ignorance regarding Christianity.  During the short interview, the “massive whoppers” from Solheim just keep coming, one after the other.  It is astounding how much Solheim can get so wrong in such a short interview.

In the video below, Alex Newman has more to say about the above and several other “massive whoppers.” Prepare to be gobsmacked.  As Newman described it, it’s lies piled on top of lies piled on top of lies.

While previously it was a hobby culminating in writing articles for Wikipedia (until things made a drastic and undeniable turn in 2020) and a few books for private consumption, since March 2020 I have become a full-time researcher and writer in reaction to the global takeover that came into full view with the introduction of covid-19. For most of my life, I have tried to raise awareness that a small group of people planned to take over the world for their own benefit. There was no way I was going to sit back quietly and simply let them do it once they made their final move.

…Alex Newman ‘Exposé’s’ how Solheim and his ilk are neither aware of present realities, or historical narratives, and these symptoms of their profound ignorance demands they be immediately ousted from any authoritative positions and their potentially involving impactful decisions and their possibly catastrophic effects on humanity! Thanks yet again Rhoda!…

Please, there is NOT enough CO2 in the world today to sustain plant life! As a result photosynthesis from plants is waning and the resulting Oxygen from said plant photosynthesis is NOT enough to sustain mankind’s ability to breathe freely and efficiently without any harm… including death! Get it?!

Blasphemy!
This blabbering suit is talking his way into Hell.
May he rest there forever.

The world cannot afford to feed this absurdism any longer.

Conclusion: Erik Solheim is a useless eater.

Not surprising. Nothing from any UN source can be trusted.
