There has quite rightly been a public outcry about Arla’s trial of Bovaer, a methane-suppressing food additive. An astute Twitter user has discovered that the UK Conservative government planned to mandate such additives to comply with the Environmental Improvement Plan.

The UK Environmental Improvement Plan (“EIP”), launched by Thérèse Coffey, the then Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs’ (“Defra”), was published in January 2023. It builds on the vision set out in the 25 Year Environment Plan and incorporates new powers and duties from the Environment Act, Agriculture Act, and Fisheries Act.
The EIP aims to halt and reverse nature decline by creating and restoring at least 500,000 hectares of new wildlife habitats; launching the Species Survival Fund to create, enhance and restore habitats, protecting 30% of land and sea for nature through the Nature Recovery Network and enhanced marine protected areas.
The plan challenges councils to improve air quality more quickly and tackle key hotspots.
It also aims to enhance the environment by upgrading wastewater treatment works, restore wildlife habitats and promote “nature-friendly” farming practices and implementing Biodiversity Net Gain, requiring developers to provide 10% more or better-quality natural habitat than before development.
To increase prosperity, the plan proposes promoting sustainable agriculture and forestry practices and supporting eco-tourism and sustainable economic growth.
The plans are far-reaching. In an update “one year on” published in January 2024, Deputy Chief Executive of Natural England, the government’s adviser for the natural environment, Alan Law said, “From the depths of the North Sea to our iconic national landscapes and in the heart of our towns and cities, the EIP goals are driving Nature recovery. There’s a lot to do in four years, but we’re rising to the challenge.”
The controversial Bovaer, a methane-supressing food additive, is part of this plan.
In an October 2023 press release published under the Sunak Conservative government, Defra committed to working with industry to deliver further action to reduce methane emissions in livestock through the use of methane-suppressing feed products in England.
Defra confirmed it would work closely with industry and farmers to encourage the widespread adoption of products to reduce methane emissions in England. The move delivered on the commitment in the Environmental Improvement Plan to explore innovative ways to reduce agricultural emissions, the press release says.
And then, so that we are left in no doubt, the damning statement. Farming Minister Mark Spencer said:
“We will continue to work closely with industry to develop a mature market and mandate the use of safe and effective methane-suppressing feed products in suitable cattle systems in England as soon as feasible.”
“Safe and effective.” Where have we hear that before?
There really isn’t much more to say. The eco-fascists have already said it all. You can read the press release from the UK government quoting Spencer HERE.

How stupid are these worthless sacks of garbage to not understand that methane producing bacteria are required in the gut for the health of the animal, and its meat and milk? These utterly evil fools should be immediately offerred euthanasia for the good of the earth, and to put us out of the misery of being led to death by these sh1t-for-brains.
Amen.
Hear, hear. Old Cree proverb: When the last tree has died, when the last river has been poisoned, when the last fish has been caught etc., only then will man realise that he cannot eat money, which surely is the root of all evil. Blinkered in their corporate agenda, these psychopathic megalomaniacs can’t see that they are essentially the architects of their own demise. Pity is, they’ll take us and all life on this planet with them if we don’t put a stop to them, by whatever means it takes. The compliant, trusting sheeple need to get the message that we must all live in balance with nature.
“How stupid are these worthless sacks of garbage” – they are not stupid. This is planned and they will get financial rewards. They are greedy and evil rather than stupid.
I know I am not the most observant person on the planet, but I have been around cattle a bit and, frankly, I never noticed them to fart ostentatiously, However, I saw and heard many horses fart, and smelled many dogs fart, really badly, but moo-cows? Nary a gentle movement of air in the breeze. Moreover, I milked three cows twice a day so you’d think I would notice.
So, gentle readers, I call on you to recall your past fart experiences, if any, and correct me if I simply did not notice. I suspect people have just presumed the fart claims had substance, after all, few greeny-type people would even know a cow if they met one. Most a city-bred and dead in the head. It just might be that cows’ reputations have been impugned unjustly and this might explain the slightly hurt expression they give me as I drive by.
I’m sure I’ve been close to one when it did and I heard it and could smell it. However, that was many years ago and your post has made me question my memory. Perhaps I was close to it when some of the brown product came out and I heard a splat when it hit the ground.
For what its worth the Conservatives were out to kill us all. But they weren’t moving fast enough. Sunak gives notice enter Harmer who is going to try to finish the job at an almighty speed. The mild mannered Brits have to push back , and push back, failure is not an option any more. I am using my local Farm Shop more and more and getting a delivery from a local farm. Yes its a bit more expensive but its so satisfying! Money talks, hurt the Corporates(all of them) in their pockets.
Just about everything they bring in to achieve nett zero and fight this climate hoax is designed to worsen/end our lives. Of course the elites will be eat, travel, or anything they feel like doing. As long as we, the great unwashed, have to learn we are not allowed any freedoms.
“Cows don’t fart” – I’m sure I’ve been close to one when it did and I heard it and could smell it.
Strangely that has been happening for thousands of years.
Now some stupid Tory politician decided it was bad for the environment as if he had found something new and the Labour lot who are just as bad follow suit.
What does “suitable” mean?
“New Bovaer fears: UK Government ‘commits’ to giving ALL cows in England controversial feed by 2030 – amid ongoing dairy boycott over ‘toxic’ additive”
“All ‘suitable’ British cattle will be given methane-reducing chemical Bovaer or Bovaer-like products by law by 2030, under controversial Government plans.”
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-14165711/Bovaer-fears-Government-giving-cows-controversial-feed-2030.html
I hope that “suitable” means farms other than organic farms, so we can buy organic milk that is free from poison. This seems plausible to me since the elite will still want clean milk. It just means that those who want clean milk will have to pay more.
If I am wrong and they put it in organic milk, then I will switch to goat’s milk.

“The news has been welcomed by NFU Deputy President Tom Bradshaw, however he says that methane suppressing feed products are just “one piece of the puzzle”, which need to work alongside a range of other methane reducing techniques”

It reminds me of the folly of feeding livestock animal products and getting bovine spongiform encephalopathy; aka, mad cow disease
But the real point is, who said methane was so contaminating that it has to be suppressed? It is not a so-called greenhouse gas, whatever that is, and like CO2, it is a natural gas that has been part of our atmosphere for as long as life on Earth.
It’s worse than we thought –
