Starmer and Zelensky signed a deal for Ukraine’s “critical minerals” days before Trump took office

Just days before US President Donald Trump took office, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a deal that gave the UK rights over Ukraine’s minerals. Tony Shaffer believes the row between President Trump and Zelensky was because the Trump administration found out and felt America was being played.

On 16 January, the UK government signed a partnership agreement with the Ukrainian government.  Within the agreement is a clause which states that the UK and Ukraine “may enter into further agreements or arrangements as necessary and appropriate to implement this Agreement.”  The agreement was signed in Kyiv.

Under the above-mentioned clause, governments of both countries published a policy paper on 17 January titled ‘UK-Ukraine 100 Year Partnership Declaration’ which laid out “understandings” that both sides had reached. This Declaration had also been signed in Kyiv on 16 January 2025.  President Trump took office a few days later on 20 January 2025.

One of the understandings in the Declaration is that the UK will provide Ukraine with annual military assistance of no less than £3 billion a year until 2030/31 and for as long as needed.

Ukraine gets no less than £3 billion a year for anything up to 100 years, so what does the UK get out of it?

Under the heading ‘0.5 Pillar 5 – Energy, Climate And Clean Energy Transition’, the Declaration states: “3. Deepening cooperation in the energy sector will include: … (iv) supporting development of a Ukrainian critical minerals strategy and necessary regulatory structures required to support the maximisation of benefits from Ukraine’s natural resources, through the possible establishment of a Joint Working Group.”

Under the heading ‘0.10 Final Provisions’, the Declaration states: “The provisions of this Declaration will continue in effect for 100 years from the date of signature. Provisions may be amended at any time by joint decision of the Participants.”  And, the Declaration “may be terminated by either Participant by sending a written notice to the other Participant.  The Declaration will be terminated six months from the date of receipt of such notice.”

The agreement signed by the UK and Ukraine was noted by retired US Army Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer in a Newsmax report on Sunday.

The White House and Ukraine are involved in a “battle of duelling narratives” over Ukraine’s minerals deal, considering that three days before President Trump’s inauguration, the British signed an agreement with Ukraine that includes rights to the resources, Shaffer told Newsmax.

Shaffer said he believes the strong words toward Zelensky last Friday in the Oval Office were the result of President Trump and his team finding out “they were being played.”

Tony Shaffer to Newsmax: Trump, Ukraine in ‘Battle of Duelling Narratives’, 2 March 2025 (2 mins)

The ‘UK-Ukraine 100 Year Partnership Declaration’ covers numerous sectors: military, air force and navy, advancement of Ukraine’s membership to NATO, intelligence sharing, combatting serious and organised crime, addressing corruption, fraud, financial and economic crime, business-to-business trading, developing a world-class financial centre through a City of London-Ukraine Hub, support Ukraine’s public procurement regime, cooperation on agriculture and food security with the use of advanced agritechnology and machine learning capabilities, deliver modern, green infrastructure aligned with climate and net zero obligations, building a greener, smarter Ukrainian transport network, protection of civilian energy infrastructure and counteract cyber and hybrid attacks, justice and accountability, combating foreign information manipulation, propaganda and interference, collaborate in science, technology and innovation, launch a space partnership, “strengthen our health systems together,” developing a long-term culture and sports partnership and the list goes on and on.  Essentially, it seems as if the UK is taking over Ukraine.

“In this agreement, Russia is mentioned 15 times. British – 7 times. United Kingdom – 3 times. Europe – 4 times. Ukraine – 121 times. NATO – 10 times. America or US – none. But rest assured, the US military is the security guarantee (NATO) because the Brits can’t provide anything but blather and minuscule nuclear deterrence,” Jason Powers said.

“In the Brits’ plan, the United Kingdom wants the US Military to do all the heavy lifting (with NATO) while they garner all the benefits,” he added.

While previously it was a hobby culminating in writing articles for Wikipedia (until things made a drastic and undeniable turn in 2020) and a few books for private consumption, since March 2020 I have become a full-time researcher and writer in reaction to the global takeover that came into full view with the introduction of covid-19. For most of my life, I have tried to raise awareness that a small group of people planned to take over the world for their own benefit. There was no way I was going to sit back quietly and simply let them do it once they made their final move.

My initial thoughts to this. The penny just finally dropped. It does not matter what any of us think we are just insignificant pawns in this nasty war game. However, if I was Trump and I got a message in the early morning tomorrow that the UK was under attack, I would probably roll over and go back to sleep. Whoever,/whatever planned the dismantling of Europe, they are very very clever and impressive.

Trump won’t let it go because Z has already sold the thing that we’re after. Mineral rights look like the U.K. already has that. What else do we need from the Ukraine except for Z to go home and no more suppor from USA!

Selensky’s spat behavior in the oval office; Was it his stupidity or his comedian and/or psychopathic act?
Eating the cake and having it; Did he realised that or has he been fooled by Starmer?
When Starmer was in the oval office; Did Trump got to know that the cake was already eaten?
Will Trump try to get the cake via a deal with Putin, who will reserve that cake for him?

Phew. Some stinky dealings methinks.
Look out world, Trump cut off all military aid to Ukraine last night, including that still in transit.
Republicans in Congress talking about pulling out of NATO.
Lots of nasty anti-Americanism stuff coming out of the EU.

I think reality will win out: There’s no money, political will, or military to continue this farce. The war will end no matter what, hopefully.

One of the understandings in the Declaration is that the UK will provide Ukraine with annual military assistance of no less than £3 billion a year until 2030/31 and for as long as needed.

*

Similar military assistance in the $3 billion/year range has been provided to a certain Middle East nation for many years by the United States of America. Unlike Ukrainian high government officials whose ruthless ethnic cleansing crimes have effectively been put to a halt, – the Fascist Middle Eastern nation’s high officials’ ruthless war crimes persist, along with military assistance from the USA.

This hypocritical, fraudulent arrangement, which rejects the fundamental principles of international law and order, continues – despite arrest warrants becoming issued by the International Criminal Court, for war crimes committed by its current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

It’s sort of a neo-feudal “Age of Empires” time. The only rule seems to be there is no more rules.

This information is not true. Starmer didn’t sign such an agreement to receive mineral rights. If he had done so it would be all over the British MSM. This Expose is a fake website.

I believe this agreement has to do with defence only, I don’t believe there is anything regarding minerals in it.

I missed the links the first time through.

My guess is that it will be challenged and superseded by whatever deal the US makes. We’ll probably still end up paying £3bn a year with no return though.

So is this why Boris Johnston flew to Kiev in April 2022, when Zelensky was about to agree to a peace deal with Putin, to tell Zelensky to keep fighting and the UK would supply them with the resources?
The UK, EU and US were certainly using Ukraine as a proxy, to try to destroy Russia, but mabey there was another agenda.

“Renowned Critical Minerals Expert Jack Lifton Says There Are No Rare Earth Deposits in the Ukraine” | Investor News | [03/04/25]  [9:04] “In a recent interview with Investor.News, Jack Lifton, Co-Chair of the Critical Minerals Institute (CMI), discussed the improbability and inefficacy of developing rare earth resources in Ukraine, emphasizing the lack of viable rare earth deposits and the implausibility of making a profitable business case. Lifton stated, “Ukraine does not have any rare earth theme deposits that I’m aware of…It’s just a waste to do that,” highlighting the non-existence of economically recoverable rare earth elements within Ukrainian sovereign territory. He compared this to places like Inner Mongolia, where rare earths are a byproduct of substantial iron ore mining, contributing significantly to China’s status as a major producer of both steel and rare earth elements. Lifton also elaborated on the geopolitical aspects of the proposed U.S. involvement in Ukrainian mining operations, suggesting that the true intent might be to embed American economic presence as a deterrent to foreign interference, particularly from Russia. He critically noted, “What I think Trump wants to do is make the entire world into a commercial operation benefiting the United States.” Lifton dismissed the practicality of investing in Ukrainian rare earth mining as a diversion from more promising opportunities in regions like Canada and Australia, which not only have significant rare earth deposits but also established markets. He underscored the abundance of critical mineral resources in North America, particularly in Canada, advocating for enhanced U.S.-Canada cooperation in developing these assets rather than focusing on geopolitically complicated and economically unviable projects like those proposed in Ukraine.”

I think Trump wants something back for the $180 Billion supposedly sent to Ukraine. If not minerals then something else. Oh wait – according to RFK Jr, 30% of Ukraine’s agricultural land, which is the best in Europe, is now owned by companies owned by Blackrock, like Monsanto.

This looks like a back-stabbing of President Trump’s attempted accord with Ukraine for the rare earth minerals while a deal had already been concluded with the United Kingdom before Zelinsky met Trump on a similar deal…Looks a lot like fraud to me in offering at two different persons on two seperate dates the same goods…That is quite illegal in doing business, I wonder how it is perceived when it happens between two governments?

In other words, the Brits have stuck a knife in our back, and the little comic has been playing a game against us despite our billions of $ given the little twerp, most of which has been purloined and used to set he and Ukrainian elites for life. The proper response is to leave NATO and any aid to Ukraine and watch them be hoisted on their own petards.

Stupid. Nothing in that agreement is firm. What a crock of shit the lawyers of all countries contrive. This article is shit and so is that “Deal”. Trump is just calling out the BS that is the Ukraine war ripping off the American taxpayer. That is not a mineral deal with the UK. If Starmer thinks he has a deal then he is dumber than we thought.
