Article correction: Royal College of Physicians is neutral regarding assisted dying; its concerns relate to the Bill only

On 15 May, we published an article titled ‘Royal College of Physicians changes its neutral stance and opposes the assisted suicide bill’.

The Royal College of Physicians has since been in contact with us to point out that our article title is misleading. “The position of neutrality held by the RCP is on assisted dying, rather than the bill specifically.”

Ideally, we would change our article title as requested. However, as the article has been in circulation for almost a couple of weeks, its clarification is best highlighted by this follow-up article.

The following is an email we received from the Royal College of Physicians on 16 May 2025, the day after we published our article. We apologise for taking so long to make a note of it. The delay is merely due to receiving many emails, and the Royal College of Physicians’ email being lost in the crowd.

Thanks very much for picking up our recent work regarding assisted dying.

The headline in your article (https://expose-news.com/2025/05/15/royal-college-of-physicians-changes/) states that the RCP has changed “its neutral stance and opposes the assisted suicide bill”.

This is technically incorrect. The position of neutrality held by the RCP is on assisted dying, rather than the bill specifically.

The position statement we shared round this week relates to specific deficiencies we’ve identified in the bill. The RCP’s position on assisted dying remains neutral and hasn’t changed following a 2019 survey of our members.

Are you able to amend the headline to reflect this, please?
