Last week, we published an article about the brakes being slammed on the European Union’s electric vehicle (“EV”) revolution. In August, figures showed that registration of battery-only powered cars in the European Union was down 44 per cent compared to a year before.
The major factor contributing to the slump in the EV market is the price of EVs compared to internal combustion engine vehicles (“ICEVs”). With the average price of EVs being £51,000, 31% higher than petrol or diesel models, consumers are rejecting EVs.
In an own goal for the climate change cult and “environmentally conscious” wealthier sections of society, a recent study shows that the lifestyles of those who buy the higher-priced EVs contribute more to carbon dioxide emissions than their ICEV counterparts.
“Since EV households tend to have a high income, their total carbon footprint is also above average,” the study said.

The following is extracted from the article ‘Study: EV owners have bigger carbon footprints than traditional car owners’ written by Laura Harris and published by Natural News.
Research from the University of Turku in Finland has revealed that average EV owners have larger carbon footprints than ICEV owners.
The Finnish study surveyed nearly 4,000 Finnish on car ownership, housing, transport and lifestyle habits to calculate carbon emissions and found that EV drivers generate an average of 8.66 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually compared to owners of ICEV who only produced 8.05 tonnes.
Interestingly, the research revealed two distinct groups of EV owners: those focused on the economy and reliability of their cars and those who prioritise performance. The environmentally conscious drivers in the first group only generate 7.59 tonnes of CO2 annually. However, those in the performance-focused group create an average of 10.25 tonnes of CO2 annually, almost double that of non-car owners, who contribute about 5.75 tonnes annually.
The study attributes these high emissions levels to the luxurious and high-consumption lifestyles of wealthier EV owners.
The study suggests that income is one of the strongest predictors of carbon footprint. Higher income typically leads to larger homes, more frequent travel and greater consumption – factors that significantly increase a person’s overall contribution to climate change. Nearly a quarter of all EV-owning households in the study had a monthly income of more than £6,250 ($8,201), while the average household income in the UK is just £2,875 ($3,772).

Additionally, EV owners typically had more vehicles and reported significantly greater driving distances compared to those with petrol or diesel vehicles. On average, EV users drove 18,640 miles (30,000 km) annually – more than twice the 8,800 miles (14,200 km) driven by non-EV drivers.

People are easily bought like prostitutes with a clump sum from government and things like free parking and so on, without realizing when the superior combustion engine is gone they are going to be robbed as they were before.
“Superior combustion engine”? You’re dead right there!
The ICB (internal combustion engine) is a marvel of precision engineering-multi cylinders, crankshaft, camshafts, multi valves, calibrated fuel injection (I could go on!)-all to within unbelievably fine tolerances-developed over the last 120 years or so-now all they want to do is bin it!!!
What is an EV? essentially a glorified torch battery driving four wheels! I think “torch” being the right word?!
Ordinary people buying an EV are often forced to take an unnecessary consumption loan on top of the housing loan forced upon them due to an artificial housing crisis. For a cheap price one can get a good car with a combustion engine and thus free oneself from crazy and/or aggressive invaders and bad smelling people hanging around on public cattle transportation.
the EV was a lie to begin with. fossil fuel is used to create that electricity.
There are many reasons why EVs sales are dropping other than the price. Range anxiety, very high depreciation, time and expense of repairs, the loss of range due to cold weather, higher insurance because many slightly damaged cars are being written off because of the possibility of damage to the battery. Then we have the frequency of thermal runaway which will damage anything close by and the toxic chemicals given off. One personal reason I dislike them is most of them look so ugly!
True. I however did love my Y as it was very comfy.
But, it only got about 260 miles per charge, and charging
is not cheap when i had no home charger. The GLASS roof
was not fun, it got incredibly hot in the sun, and could not put
my kayak on the roof.
What concerned me also was the fact they could turn off all EV’s
with the switch of a button. I once locked myself out, and they remotely unclocked it for me. I only had the car 6 months before I traded it in and bought a hybrid, not electric, toyota. No regrets.
Oh, dear ……. when those environmentally conscious virtue signallers realise what the actual CO2 figures are, and that we actually need more CO2 in the atmosphere for a reasonable margin of safety, their hypocrisy will know no bounds!
