Mad Ed’s Net Zero plan is so expensive that the UK economy cannot survive it

Because Ed Miliband refuses to produce an estimate of how much his Net Zero plan will cost, Gordon Hughes, former Professor of Economics at the University of Edinburgh, has had to produce his own cost estimates.

Writing for The Telegraph, Hughes said, “On average my calculations show that the Net Zero grid would be a remarkable £15 billion per year more expensive than our current one … It is clear that Net Zero is a voyage that the United Kingdom simply can’t afford to take. We will have to turn back if our economy is to survive.”

The UK government’s plan to achieve Net Zero, as outlined in the Clean Power 2030 document, is highly unlikely to become a reality on the proposed timescale due to the lack of access to the necessary capital and engineers to build the required generation plants and grid connections.

Ed Miliband, the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, has refused to produce a credible estimate of the costs of the Net Zero electricity system.  He has also cancelled a system costing commissioned by his predecessor, Claire Coutinho. Frustrated by Miliband’s inadequacies,  Hughes has had to do his own calculations to fill the gap.  His calculations reveal the true expense of Miliband’s plan.

The plan will be extremely expensive, with Hughes’ calculations indicating that the Net Zero grid would cost approximately £15 billion per year more than the current grid, which translates to an extra £925 per year for every household, likely paid through higher electricity bills, potentially forcing consumers to reduce their energy consumption either voluntarily or through compulsion.

The high cost of decarbonising the grid is not due to the cost of generating wind and solar power, which is relatively low, but rather the need to build, maintain and replace a large amount of machinery and grid connections, as well as the extra costs associated with balancing the grid.

Hughes argues that the economy cannot sustain further energy price rises and the plan may lead to blackouts as early as before 2030 due to a potential shortage of generation capacity.  And that the high cost of achieving Net Zero will negatively impact the UK’s economy and the government may be forced to re-evaluate its commitment to this goal to promote economic growth.

Additionally, the Government’s plans for generation capacity contain uncertainties as it relies on factors such as the construction of new gas-fired power stations, which may not be the high-efficiency combined cycle units needed, and the willingness of European neighbours to keep interconnectors open during periods of high demand.

Political Fallout and Loss of Consensus

The opposition parties in Parliament are beginning to question the feasibility of Net Zero, with some, such as Reform, proposing plans to limit the development of renewables, and Kemi Badenoch admitting that the Conservatives got it wrong on Net Zero.

The loss of cross-party consensus on Net Zero is likely to deter investors from putting their money into the “energy transition”, including wind and solar power, batteries and transmission lines, as government support is crucial for these investments to be profitable.

The uncertainty surrounding the future of Net Zero is also causing investors to hesitate when it comes to building new gas-fired power stations in the UK, which could lead to a shortage of power generation capacity and increase the risk of blackouts.

According to Hughes, who is a former Professor of Economics at the University of Edinburgh and senior adviser on energy and environmental policy at the World Bank, the UK’s political establishment needs to find a new consensus on Net Zero to avoid severe economic and energy consequences.

While previously it was a hobby culminating in writing articles for Wikipedia (until things made a drastic and undeniable turn in 2020) and a few books for private consumption, since March 2020 I have become a full-time researcher and writer in reaction to the global takeover that came into full view with the introduction of covid-19. For most of my life, I have tried to raise awareness that a small group of people planned to take over the world for their own benefit. There was no way I was going to sit back quietly and simply let them do it once they made their final move.

So electricity will become so expensive, we’ll have to use less, and so they won’t get enough revenue, so prices will rise even further until we end up paying what we had to but for less electricity. Madness!

This is exactly what has happened in South Africa with our ‘load shedding”. They asked us to use less – and then complained that revenue had fallen!

Won’t survive it? But you’re not supposed to survive it.

If poverty don’t get you, the immigrants will replace you all the same, that is if you make it through the vax. And if all that fails to get you too they got WW III all teed up and ready to go

Hi jsinton,
You are spot on.
Ed Miliband is my MP, he never replies to my letters and emails.
In a telephone interview, which the local council made him give me.
He could not remember if he was a paid up member of ‘ Friends of Israel ‘.
So why is he in such an important position ?

What we realize here in the US since Trump II is the fraud, corruption, theft, etc of responsible government is unbelievably rampant. The country is in shock, and the Democrats are in trouble and probably won’t recover. Someone should examine how much money Miliband has squirreled away. Bet he made a fortune.

Hi jsinton,
Thank you for that comment.
Have you seen this about Graphene Oxide being dropped in Chemtrails in US and UK.

OMG. Well I have been studying the polymer filaments on my car and they are clearly self assembling nano technology.

My well water will self assemble motherboards with chips, all with perfectly square corners and 90 degree angles, all in perfect alignment, except it’s many millions of times smaller than your computer motherboard. This is mostly made from graphene, among other stuff. The municipal water in town does the same.

I think the whole point is that it is not supposed to work. It’s just a grifter scam to milk more money at public expense. I think you will find, as we have seen the last few weeks in the US, that fraud is the rule rather than the exception.

Yes. I’ve tried getting my solar onto the grid by asking nicely enough as a ‘potential’ customer (groan) and just requiring the flexibility instead of cost. 3.5 years later I have to go to court for a light hand off of EON Extortion Team Member P.F. The CPS have already lied in Court that P.F. was there to ‘read the meter’. After 24hrs in custody….another story to tell my grandkids (which Covid Stance may have prevented happening EVER)..and Redirecting the Court as to LEGAL TITLE rather than Birth Cert NAME, they still won’t give up down here at the rural end of the Landfill.
