A recent study from Purdue University reveals that adding lean red meat to a balanced diet can offer significant health benefits. Following a consistent dietary pattern that features lean red meat can contribute to gut microbiota balance and support cardiovascular health.
Researchers examined how “dietary pattern cycling” – adopting and then intermittently stopping a healthy US-style dietary pattern – impacts gut and heart health. The healthy US-style diet included three ounces of lean red meat, such as beef or pork, each day.
Each time participants followed the healthy diet, their gut microbiota improved, shifting to a more beneficial balance. Additionally, cardiovascular health markers like low-density lipoprotein (“LDL”) cholesterol showed positive changes, indicating that lean red meat, when eaten as part of a healthy diet, can support gut and heart health.
The study found that consistency in following a healthy diet is critical for long-term benefits. While returning to the healthy eating pattern provided short-term improvements, those benefits were quickly lost when participants went back to a “usual” diet that was unrestricted from the healthy US-style diet. Dr. Wayne Campbell, the study’s lead investigator and a professor of nutrition science at Purdue University, emphasised that sticking to a consistent healthy diet is essential to maintaining these health improvements over time.
These findings add to the growing evidence that lean red meat can be part of a nutritious diet without negatively impacting gut or heart health. The study highlights the value of committing to balanced eating habits to sustain overall health and well-being. By including lean red meats alongside other nutritious foods, individuals can enjoy both short-term and lasting health benefits.

The proven benefits of red meat. I’ll try to keep this short but please bear with me.
Nearly 2years ago when I was approaching my 68th birthday, my doctor called me in for a checkup. He said I had very very low levels of phosphate and gave me Zandoz effervescent tablets to be taken 2 at a time three times a day for three weeks. I had a severe reaction after taking the first two on day one. Waited a day then took just one tablet to see what would happen and immediately suffered the same reaction. Obviously I took no more. Went back after three weeks and explained to the doctor the situation. He said there was no alternative, so I said I’ll just do without the tablets and carry on as I’ve lasted this long. The following day he phoned me and said there Was an alternative, but it would mean a diet change. Expecting the bird/rabbit food diet i was surprised when he said…”it would mean eating red meat, a lot! Daily if possible and I mean the darker the meat the better.”
So here i am, one the one hand I have to listen to people pushing other people to get rid of cattle etc..to save the planet while I’m being advised to eat the cattle etc.. to keep healthy. Even save my life. How many people are suffering unnecessary because of this agenda to abolish real meat?
I’d be interested in hearing what the “green/climate leading spokesperson have to say about this.
Hi Midge Burleigh, thank you for telling us your story. Red meat is absolutely essential for a healthy balanced diet.
Amen!
Midge, Rhoda is very correct.
Like you I was on meds of different kinds. With a lot of digging I found out that most of my problems were caused by my microwave. Microwave radiates the food killing all nutrition. I tossed it and garbage food.
If you want to be healthy simple –stop ALL soft drinks and processed foods (garbage). Meat, veggies, and fresh fruit when available. AND, of course use lots of spices, they spice up life in many ways. Since I changed, it was rough, I haven’t been really sick in years.
What gets me about this ‘green climate’ bs is they say it is all because of cow farts????? Those dead beats claim to be ‘college’ educated.
Well, back in my day everyone knew that cows don’t fart. Humans, horses, asses, dogs all fart — cows are incapable of farting.
Wonder where they went to school?
Think what they really want is for all of us to slowly starve to death eating garbage. AND, I have unfortunately seen people who literally ate themselves to death via the ‘garbage’ sold as food.
People need to awaken.
Yo know that something is good for you when governmental institutions say it’s bad.
