The trial against Dr. Reiner Fuellmich one of the four founding members of the German Corona Investigative Committee, is expected to begin on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 09.15 a.m. He will appear before the Göttingen Regional Court accused of diverting 700,000 euros from accounts of the “Corona Committee” to private accounts for his private use.  

According to German site HNN News, a further charge concerning an accusation of subsidy fraud has now been added.  Dr Fuellmich is said to have submitted an application for the granting of emergency Corona aid in April 2020 and provided incorrect information and therefore “wrongly” obtained emergency aid of 15,000 euros, according to the prosecution.

Following three months of imprisonment, today will be the first trial day of the nine that have been scheduled so far, according to his main lawyer Katja Woermer. Katja, shared the information on bittel.tv, to host Roger Bittel, but added that an application for bias by the legal team has yet to be decided which may result in a postponement of the first day of the trial.

Assuming the case will commence, there will be another experienced lawyer present who has been added to Reiner’s team, the number of spectator seats is limited to 37, the accreditation deadline for journalists has passed and two public TV stations and one private station have been/will be admitted, according to Katja.

During the broadcast on Bittel.tv, Roger Bittel read a short message from Reiner:

“After 3 months in prison, I can’t thank you enough for the letters that show how important my work has been for you.

“Each and everyone of you is more important that the evildoers who are trying to bring us under their control.

We are determined to bring everyone to justice.

We know what is behind what is happening.

About our determination, I think of the determination of my mother who after the war walked 20 kilometers each way in winter with her own determination.

Stay strong. We will win!”

Dr Fuellmich’s wife contacted lawyer and friend Elsa Schneider who transcribed her message below:

“Tomorrow Reiner’s trial is starting, after this long time. The last months have been very stressful, not only for us but for all of you, because also for you there was ever greater pressure from outside.

For me it’s not only about my husband. Like, most likely, most of you, I grew up in a functioning democracy in Germany and now this is a test case of the situation – and Reiner’s case is an example of that. Many doubts chew at me. Can I still believe in a just system, in our right to a fair hearing in the true sense of the word?

When we get no news, for example, and much more, serious doubts arise. When someone who has been in prison for months, still is brought into court in handcuffs, we have to doubt that there is still the presumption of innocence.

There are so many things to mention, but I hope that we all have the possibility of bringing this into the open, to express our views. Also I believe that you will not let yourselves be stopped from expressing your views.
