Is Hunza Yousaf guilty of “hate crimes” according to his new law?

On Monday, Hunza Yousaf’s “hate crime” bill comes into effect so it’s a good time to recall some of Yousaf’s rhetoric and examine whether he has fallen foul of his new law.

The Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act extends the offence of “stirring up racial hatred” to disability, religion, sexual orientation, age, transgender identity and “variations in sex characteristics.”

The legislation is part of the legacy of the Nicola Sturgeon era. It was passed by Yousaf when he was justice secretary.

The Act doesn’t just apply to social media posts or newspaper articles. It covers anything said anywhere – even in your own home.

If you live in Scotland, you may have seen the Scottish government’s “Hate Hurts” advertisements. “Words can hurt and can have a detrimental effect on how someone feels about themselves,” the Scottish government’s campaign said.

Below are two of Yousaf’s speeches for us to consider.  Has he already committed offences under his own Act?

Humza Yousaf is the current First Minister of Scotland and leader of the Scottish National Party (“SNP”). He previously served as justice secretary from 2018 to 2021 and then as health secretary from 2021 to 2023. During his campaign to become first minister, he said: “The benefit of being first minister is you get to choose what your priorities are.”  Although he was referring to “helping the poorest and most vulnerable,” his priorities may extend well beyond what he campaigned on.

He has worked with justice partners, including Police Scotland, to ensure that the “hate speech” legislation is effectively implemented when it commences on Monday.

Yousaf, who has a Pakistani father and Kenyan mother, was privately educated at Hutchesons’ Grammar School in Glasgow. He went on to study politics at the University of Glasgow.  Once his time had ended at university, it was straight to Holyrood for Yousaf, taking a job as a parliamentary assistant to the SNP’s Bashir Ahmad.

In 2016, when Nicola Sturgeon was first minister, Yousaf was named transport minister. While transport minister, Yousaf was caught by police driving a friend’s car without insurance. He was fined £300 and had six penalty points added to his licence.

Following a cabinet reshuffle in 2018, Yousaf was then promoted to justice secretary before taking on the mantle of health secretary in 2021.

As health secretary, Yousaf came under fire over the state of Scotland’s NHS.

During First Minister’s Questions in February 2023, Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross branded Yousaf the “worst health secretary since devolution, but it looks like he is going to fail upwards.”

“He was a transport minister who drove without [insurance],” Mr. Ross said. “He delayed the dualling of the A9. And he clapped like a seal when Nicola Sturgeon launched a ferry with painted-on windows.”

Yousaf is a Muslim.  Alex Salmond told Sky News that Yousaf skipped a key vote on gay marriage in 2014 due to “religious pressure.”

Is Yousaf guilty of “hate crimes”?

The Guardian noted that the clip below was taken from May 2020 when Yousaf was speaking to Members of the Scottish Parliament on a motion in support of anti-racist activism after the death of George Floyd.

“Some people have been surprised or taken aback by my mention on my social media that at 99% of the meetings that I go to, I am the only non-white person in the room,” he told the chamber. “Why are we so surprised when the most senior positions in Scotland are filled almost exclusively by people who are white?”

He then listed all the senior judicial, policing and legal posts in his justice portfolio held by white people, and said the same could be found in health, another portfolio he held.

To put the ludicrousness of Yousaf’s activism in Holyrood into perspective: According to Wikipedia, the latest census taken in 2011 revealed that 96% of the population described themselves as “white.”  If 96% of the population is white, then it is reasonable to assume 96% of the people you come across in public places, including the workplace, are white.  That Yousaf has not worked this out for himself using common sense and logic is astounding, or perhaps it is a symptom of him never being employed outside of Holyrood.

Yousaf not only feels uncomfortable working with white people but also feels uncomfortable working with people who oppose his politics.  As an aside, on Monday, Scotland’s “hate crime” bill takes full effect. Should anyone feel offended or their feelings have been hurt by what Yousaf says in either the video above or in his speech below, Police Scotland will receive your complaint and has promised to be thorough in their pursuit of any “hate crimes.”

According to The Telegraph’s opinion polls, the Labour Party is coming out on top in the UK with 47% saying they will vote Labour. However, in a recent speech to his party faithful, Scotland’s First Minister concentrated his venom on the Conservative Party.

On 16 March, Yousaf told an SNP gathering in Perth, Scotland: “If we are to truly make Scotland Tory-free, we need to reject not just Tory politicians, but Tory policies, Tory ideas and Tory values.”

The SNP’s longest-serving Member of Parliament, Pete Wishart, has disowned Yousaf’s target of making Scotland “Tory-free” after the general election as the First Minister was accused of employing “ugly” and “divisive” rhetoric.  Mr. Wishart told BBC Scotland that people “have a right to have their view and vote respected.”

As The Telegraph pointed out, what is most objectionable about Yousaf’s approach is that he constantly refers to something called “Scottish values” to which he suggests only his party adheres. But these are not wholly owned by the SNP and never will be.

To demonstrate the point, let’s consider that the “Scottish values” Yousaf refers to are held by those who have characteristics of a Muslim who is of Pakistani/Kenyan descent and who votes SNP. Yousaf will find that very few people align with his approved and permissible values.

For example, Wikipedia shows that in the 2011 census, 0.37% of Scotland’s population described themselves as mixed or multiple ethnic groups.  According to Scotland’s Census, this equates to 34,000 people, including children. So, initially, potentially 34,000 people fall into Yousaf’s approved “Scottish values.”  We would then need to narrow down the 34,000 to those who are Muslim and how many of those would vote for SNP.  Then we would reduce that number further when considering how many mixed ethnic group/Muslim/SNP voters agree with Yousaf’s rhetoric about abolishing people’s right to freely choose which policies, ideas and values they support and have their vote respected. At this point, the number of people who follow Yousaf’s “Scottish values” has probably dwindled to a few thousand, if not hundreds or tens.

Then, consider other values, such as sexual orientation, that will likely fall outside of Yousaf’s approval. As the number of values, freedoms, rights and choices Yousaf targets becomes ever larger, so will the number of people Yousaf targets. Eventually, Yousaf will find he is the only one following his “Scottish values” and the whole population, therefore, becomes targets. Perhaps that’s the aim; as it is with all dictators.

While previously it was a hobby culminating in writing articles for Wikipedia (until things made a drastic and undeniable turn in 2020) and a few books for private consumption, since March 2020 I have become a full-time researcher and writer in reaction to the global takeover that came into full view with the introduction of covid-19. For most of my life, I have tried to raise awareness that a small group of people planned to take over the world for their own benefit. There was no way I was going to sit back quietly and simply let them do it once they made their final move.

His eyes tell us everything we need to know about the evil lurking behind them. But it’s not him or people like him that we are concerned about, it’s the marionettists pulling the strings above him/them. They need to be caught in strings and suspended, the face only mother could love will dangle naturally.

He’s guilty as charged!

Scottish values? Well, my “Scottish values” aren’t Mr. Yousaf’s “Scottish values”, that’s for sure!!!

From tomorrow, Police Scotland will likely be full-on 24/7 chasing after unguarded comments wherever they may issue from, whilst the real criminals carry on regardless. Just about anything said under this insane new law could be construed as hate speech.

I can go weeks without seeing a non-white person, just how it is up here.

A law intended to prevent truth from being told – this is the sort of truth that Yousaf speaks and that this law this law is intended to suppress –

“Beaten, tortured and buried alive: What happened to the woman on the Israeli truck

Hadeel al-Dahdouh was separated from her breastfeeding son for more than 50 days when she was thrown into the back of an Israeli truck. She tells MEE she was subjected to horrific torture”

“One of the soldiers then forced Dahdouh into a stress position with her head placed on the floor and her arms tied behind her knees.

She said that her back was uncovered and she was injected with a substance near her spinal cord.

“For over an hour, I was forced to sit like this and was not allowed to move. If I moved, they would beat me so hard. I asked him what they were doing to me but they did not answer. They just started cursing me and saying: ‘You are a Hamas bitch.’

“I was crying, begging, and saying, ‘I swear to God I am not, I am just a normal citizen like everyone else’,” she said.

“I don’t know what they injected me with, but it was some kind of solution, and they also took something from my body, like a blood sample,” she added.”

They will call telling the truth, “anti-Semitic hate speech” – this sort of truth –

“Israeli soldiers shoot and kill two unarmed Palestinian men in Gaza: Video”.

Israeli soldiers shot dead two unarmed Palestinian men in Gaza, their bodies buried in sand and rubbish by an army bulldozer, exclusive broadcast footage obtained by Al Jazeera has shown.

https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2024/3/28/israeli-soldiers-shoot-dead-two-unarmed-palestinian-men-in-gaza-video

In it – “Israel is getting away with this because of the silence of the international community,” Farsakh told Al Jazeera” – and this law against so-called hate speech is intended to keep the silence. It is a law intended to prevent truth being spoken. Anyone talking about this sort of atrocity will be attacked as anti-Semitic.
