Petitions in the UK are a significant part of the democratic process, allowing citizens to voice their concerns and request changes to laws or government policies. The Westminster Hall debates on petitions are often seen as the jewel in the crown of Parliament’s petitions process. However, according to the London School of Economics, research has found that only 23 per cent agreed e-petitions influenced government policymaking.

Michael Westwood started the petition to the UK parliament to ‘Call a General Election” on 31 October 2024, a day after the budget was presented.

He told the Express, “The British public feel like they have been betrayed with the promises that were told in the lead to the election and then what has been delivered since – it looks nothing like what was promised.  I think people have had enough, people have seen what’s happened over in America as well, and I think that’s had a knock-on effect that, actually, if people stand together and vote then we can make a change.”

According to the BBC, by 27 November it had become the third most popular e-petition since 2010.

The Petitions Committee has confirmed that the petition will be debated in Westminster Hall on 6 January 2025 at 4:30 pm. The debate will be opened by Liberal Democrat MP Jamie Stone, who chairs the committee, and a government minister will respond.

It is not too late to sign the petition which you can do HERE. You’ll be able to watch the debate online on the UK Parliament YouTube channel HERE.

In a written response to the petition, the Cabinet Office has stated that the Government will continue to deliver on their manifesto and that a general election can be called by the Prime Minister at any time within the five-year term of Parliament. However, the Prime Minister has ruled out calling another election.

Proving that he is completely detached from the electorate, Labour Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has acknowledged the petition but has dismissed calls for another election, stating that it is not how the system works. He also noted that he is not surprised by the petition given that many who did not vote Labour in the last election might want a re-run.

Starmer has faced significant unpopularity as the British Prime Minister. According to a series of polls and reports, his approval ratings have reached historically low levels. A December 2024 Ipsos poll showed that 61% of Britons were dissatisfied with Starmer’s performance, marking his lowest rating as Prime Minister. This dissatisfaction includes more than a third of Labour supporters, indicating a substantial drop in public opinion even among his own party’s base.

Further reading:

Even before the Ipsos poll results were publicised, Starmer’s unpopularity was becoming evident.  On 1 September, a couple of months after Starmer took the helm, Matt Goodwin joined Sky News Australia to discuss Starmer quickly becoming one of the most unpopular Prime Ministers.

Sky News Australia: Keir Starmer quickly becoming one of the ‘most unpopular’ prime ministers, 1 September 2024 (4 mins)

On Thursday, Goodwin published an article reminding us of other promises Starmer made in his election campaign that he has broken:

While previously it was a hobby culminating in writing articles for Wikipedia (until things made a drastic and undeniable turn in 2020) and a few books for private consumption, since March 2020 I have become a full-time researcher and writer in reaction to the global takeover that came into full view with the introduction of covid-19. For most of my life, I have tried to raise awareness that a small group of people planned to take over the world for their own benefit. There was no way I was going to sit back quietly and simply let them do it once they made their final move.

I’ve signed the petition but we all know it’s not going to happen, they are a rouge government elected by around 20% of the country and they are working for the WEF globalists not the people of the uk

We shouldn’t expect any positive results from this petition. Doesn’t matter how many sign it stammer will not give up his puppet post for WEF. They rule and he is following orders from them, they want & need him is this position, so us common folk have not a hope in hell that he will agree. We’re stuck with him I’m afraid 😨

How can you fight the system using its own tools???

To petition parliament with signatures is like a madman trying to reason with a herd of stampeding wildebeest.

My thoughts and hope is that many of the backbenchers of Liebour so worry about losing their £90K a year salary that they turn on Harmer and get rid of the bad rubbish. Many of those back benchers, in the private sector arnt worth even employing so will turn on the cabinet. Every one of them only care about themselves. No, we wont get an election yet, but the way Liebour are performing, destruction will start from the inside.

I worked on Capitol Hill in Washington for a few years. The #1 job of every politician there was how to fool your constituents enough into voting you into office for another term.

YOU cannot petition a corporation that itself is founded on fraud to some how offer another option. UK government is nothing but a corporation! Great Britain is not a country it’s a corporation, United Kingdom is not a country it’s a corporation. England, wales, Scotland, Ireland ARE countries and they need their true government reestablished! Go to company’s house and see uk government inc, see USA inc, see tony blair Inc, Boris inc, nick clegg inc. they were all listed as corporations as they know they are were committing crime so tried to use a front to protect themselves from prosecution. We know all the crimes. They have all been explained and shared globally. As Anna has shown in various international public notices. https://annavonreitz.com/

Funny how a very similar rejection is happening with PM Justin Trudeau in Canada; another commonwealth “country”…He’s doing as much damage to Canada as possible even as he knows his run is over…Of course it’s all rigged to make it seem to the plebs that theu have a choice in who gets in. It’s always whomever the global elite want in office that actually gets in…It’s all just theater, actually…
