Daniel Thomas, an anti-migrant protester also known as Danny Tommo, slashed an empty illegal migrant dinghy with a knife while a French coastguard rescue worker was on board, shouting “You are on English territory.”
Yesterday, he was charged with criminal damage and with failing to disclose his phone Personal Identification Number (“PIN”). Today, he pleaded not guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody ahead of a trial at Portsmouth Crown Court.

On Tuesday, Danny Tommo slashed an illegal migrant boat to make it unusable so it could not be shipped back to France to be loaded with more illegal migrants bound for the UK.
On Wednesday, Tommo was arrested.
Yesterday, after Tommo was arrested, hundreds of people protested in Basingstoke to demand his immediate release.
Today, Tommo appeared in court.
In the video below, Tommy Robinson gives his account of Danny Tommo’s court hearing and explained why he believes the decision to keep Tommo in custody should be challenged.
Speaking with Wendell outside court, Robinson describes the arguments he says were raised by the defence: questions about the alleged boat damage, the evidence, where the incident happened and the dispute over access to Tommo’s phone.
He also outlines the bail conditions he says were proposed and reports that a further bail hearing is planned.
Alongside the court update, Tommy discusses his concerns for Danny’s safety in custody and the impact on his family. He explains why he believes the case is politically motivated and has a message for those who want to support Danny as the proceedings continue.
