Britain’s Foreign Secretary David Lammy made an address at the United Nations claiming he is a descendant of Western slaves. However, a review of Lammy’s ancestry revealed that many of his forebears were involved in conquest and slavery, similar to their Western contemporaries.
Lammy’s ancestors were not enslaved “at the barrel of a gun” by Americans or Europeans, as he claimed; he is more likely to be a descendant of African slavers.

Britain’s Foreign Secretary Rants About Slavery at the UN … But Guess Who His Ancestors Were?
The following was written by Jack Montgomery and published by The National Pulse.
Britain’s Foreign Secretary David Lammy used a United Nations (“UN”) address to cringingly chastise Russia’s President Vladimir Putin for invading Ukraine to grandstand about Western slavery.
“Mr President, I speak not only as a Briton, as a Londoner, and as a foreign secretary… [but] also as a black man whose ancestors were taken in chains from Africa, at the barrel of a gun to be enslaved, whose ancestors rose up and fought in a great rebellion of the enslaved,” he said, adding: “Imperialism: I know it when I see it, and I will call it out for what it is.”
A review of Lammy’s ancestry by The National Pulse has revealed that many of his forebears were involved in conquest and slavery, at least as much as their Western contemporaries.
The new foreign secretary’s 2021 book ‘Tribes’ reveals he is “25 per cent Tuareg tribe (Niger), 25 per cent Temne tribe (Sierra Leone), 25 per cent Bantu tribe (South Africa), with 5 per cent traces of Celtic Scotland and a mishmash of other unidentified groups.”
African Slavery
The Tuaregs are a predominantly Muslim people who do not generally present as black Africans due to North African, Middle Eastern, and even European ancestry. Inhabiting mainly desert regions, slave raiding, slave trading and protecting slave caravans was a key part of their way of life and chattel slavery still exists in Tuareg lands to this day.
The Temne were also slavers, and their territories were unstable due to the existence of slave villages that rose in revolt periodically. After the British established Freetown in Sierra Leone as a home for freed slaves, the practice continued in the Temne hinterland into the 20th century.
The Bantu people, including the Zulu, were extremely warlike, seizing much of the territory they occupied in South Africa from the Khoisan, or Bushmen, hunter-gatherers, who are today a small minority in the country. Pygmy peoples were also frequently ethnically cleansed or enslaved by Bantus and continue to be discriminated against by Bantus today.
Far-Left Agenda
Notably, it is doubtful Lammy’s ancestors were enslaved “at the barrel of a gun” by Americans or Europeans, with the vast majority of slaves taken from Africa being sold by African slave masters.
His efforts to turn the Ukraine War into an opportunity to push racial grievances demonstrate not just his own well-established ignorance of history but the far-left ideology still at the heart of the Labour Party, despite Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s efforts to disguise it with a camouflage of bland managerialism.
Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, once on the extreme left of her party, is pulling a similar trick. It is not a coincidence that her team is currently recruiting Labour Party strategists.
Note from RW: Unlike Lammy, I am a bona fide descendant of slaves. Not only do I have ancestral records and family stories but I also have the DNA to prove it. I cannot speak for all true descendants of slaves so I speak for myself.
I am sick and tired of this part of history being repeatedly misrepresented and politicised to push forward an agenda that has nothing to do with slaves who lived, loved, laughed and cried all those generations ago and most likely passed something down that makes me who I am today. Without them, I would not have been me.
Contrary to viewing my ancestors as symbols of oppression, I am proud of my ancestors and I have no desire and wouldn’t dream of taking compensation for the lives that they lived. I would rather their stories were told truthfully and factually, rather than made up dramatic stories told to suit an agenda, and any guilt money was directed towards helping those who are enslaved today to gain their freedom. It is way past time to address the problems of the present while honouring and respecting those who lived in the past.
To David Lammy and all those who are pushing the historical slavery money-spinning agenda, I say: You do not speak for me nor do you represent me. You are a disgrace hijacking mine and others’ history and using it for your own aims. And you are a disgrace for not putting modern-day slavery and human trafficking front and centre. If you want to honour my ancestors and recognise the lives they were forced to lead, then show some courage and integrity, and tackle the slave trade that is happening today.

Rhoda, I’m “sick and tired of it too”.
Not all ‘slaves’ were treated in the same way-some loved their masters (Deuteronomy 15:16), for they looked after them! George Whitefield of Gloucester being a notable example.
The Bible doesn’t condemn slavery (however one defines it) only the mistreatment of one’s fellow man, and bad men have always been around-nothing new there!
As a kid I could never understand why some nonwhites had unpronounceable African names, and others English names, I was told that those whose ancestors were slaves took on their master’s surname, so you can tell them apart from those who never descended from slavery.
I don’t know the origin of the name Lammy.
They didn’t take on their master’s names, that was forced upon them as a label of ‘property’ and any trace of their previous identity erased. So nothing to do with being able to tell them apart, they literally had no other names or the choice of having any decision over it since they could not name their own children in most cases; that was the owner’s ‘power’ under laws of the time.
I don’t doubt there is some truth in what you assert, but put yourself in the position of someone who has just been plucked out of their homeland and cast into a strange land, would you?
You are a non-white, and all you see about you are whites with surnames such as Davis, Jones, Smith, Owen, Barnes (you get where I am coming from?) you are a stranger in a strange land because of your skin colour! If your birth name was Yinka Majekundumnemos you might not assimilate so easily, so why draw undue attention to yourself, if you get my gist?
There is truth in the secular proverb-when in Rome do as the Romans do.
Hi Islander, it is also common practice for someone with a non-English name to adopt English names for ease.
For example, I once worked with someone who was in the UK on secondment from Japan. His Japanese name was too difficult for us to get our heads around, try as we might, let alone spell correctly. To avoid us all the embarrassment, he told us to call him John. He was known as John for the next 3 years until he returned to Japan.
Hi Islander you are right in what you say.
Another thing people like Lammy ignore, is what happened to the descendants of the slaves in England? The best guess is they integrated into the white population. With each generation born, the skin tone became lighter. And the descendants of those slaves today are identified as “white English” or “white British.”
People like Lammy ignore history and make up their own version of it. Always question when a black man who has emigrated from Africa to the West in the last few generations claims he’s a descendent of slaves. Because, in the main, slaves did not return to Africa when the slave trade was abolished. They stayed and settled where they were, some had been born there and some had been there for generations, i.e. they had never known Africa.
Slaves from other continents taken to Africa or Arab countries stayed in Africa or Arab states (yes, slavery is not unique to Western nations; slaves came from several ethnic groups, white, black and brown), and slaves from Africa stayed in the US, UK etc.
Rhoda, they did indeed “integrate into the white population” as you write.
A man (20+ years older) I used to do much business with in the Barton area of Gloucester said to me “the first generation of blacks he interacted with were the nicest, kindest, helpful and most generous people you could meet-they couldn’t do enough for you”. He employed several of them. Most were God fearing people, I am sure, but of the next generation?
He told me of the next generation that they had “a chip on their shoulder” that they had an entirely different persona-that was his observation.
Why is this?
Hi Islander, I don’t know the answer to your question.
I think lots of things come into play. Firstly not all people in any particular group are the same, we are all individuals. Secondly, I find younger people in general are becoming more difficult. I put it down to the breaking down of the family structure (including e.g. parents being friends with their children instead of being parents) and the indoctrination programmes that are being run through schools and universities that put some very strange (and often arrogant) ideas into youngsters heads. I think more and more youngsters are becoming very confused, unstable, don’t know who they are or what the boundaries are and angry as a result.
In 2020, I heard (from a lecturer at one of the UK universities) that the woke indoctrination of students at universities had begun 20 years before (so that’s say 25 years ago now). She said they had tried to raise the alarm all those years ago and tried to stop it, but it was to no avail.
Yes-“the younger people in general are becoming more difficult…” this is not too difficult to discern, is it?
But why? The Scriptures teach us in no uncertain terms that wickedness must prevail in this age…

I had no idea just how thick Lammy was until I heard his intensely embarrasing, off piste, unprofessional, and just plain odd speeech which was supposed to be about Ukraine but was instead a mendacious and entirely out of place tirade (not quite the right word since he had to repeatedly read it from notes and there was zero passion or any other emotion involved) As bad a s Humza Yoosless with his ‘white, white, white’ speech in a country that is 96% white. Or worse? YOU decide!!
Not “thick”-rather horrendously deceived.
And 100% idiot, dumb arsed bastard.
One trick pony.
Big yawn…
[…] – David Lammy claims his ancestors were slaves – he lied […]
Thank you Rhoda, nice piece, and well said.
Hi Connor, Thank you but, sadly, I can’t take the credit. I republished an article from The National Pulse (and then added my little rant at the end because the annoyance of Lammy’s falsities and the nefarious agenda I suspect that is driving it overcame me)
Hi Rhoda,
Remember Queen Victoria used the Royal Navy to help stop slavery worldwide.
She made slavery illegal, and the British public paid off the slave traders.
Hi Dave, yes the British were instrumental in abolishing the (historical)* African slave trade worldwide. But before they made their stand, they were also involved in it, together with African and Arab slave traders. My point is, the history about the slave trade is not being debated in a informative or factual way. It has been hijacked, politicised and used for nefarious aims.
One of those nefarious aims, I believe, is to convince Western taxpayers to fund the enslavement of Africans once again through the UN’s Agenda 2030. That’s why they keep banging on about so-called “reparations.” My thoughts are that the “reparations” is the money (probably in the form of loans) they require to pay for the implementation of digital IDs, CBDCs, the “green” agenda, vaccines etc in Africa. And they want Western taxpayers to agree to pay for it (because Western governments will need to raise taxes to fund it). So they are guilt tripping Western taxpayers that they “owe” it to Africans to cough up the money required. In short, it’s a scam to get Western taxpayers to fund the further enslavement of Africans to the UN. And it will not be a once off payment, it will continue until the Globalists have completed their takeover of every man, woman and child.
* I specify “historical” because the slave trade is alive and well in some Arab countries to this day and Britain is doing nothing to stop it. There is also the problem of human trafficking which is enslaving people even in Western countries – and there’s barely any mention of it.
I’ve been a slave all my working life-workinng for HMRC!
Working!
Hi Islander, Yes tax is a burden and so much so it can make us feel like slaves. However, if we don’t take down the UN and the WEF and put an end to their schemes, the generations that follow will be even more so.
I’m NO fan of tap dancing coconut David Lammy.
However, whatever bits of ancestry he has in his DNA….The fact remains that an ancestor of his got to Guyana from Africa via the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
They were captured by an Islamic or Hamitic African Tribe and sold to gun welding Europeans who transported them to Guyana.
Once there, they would have been subjected to chattel slavery which out the many types of slavery there is, happens to be the most dehumanising.
Those are the facts.
Yeah so what?
From one point in time we where all slaves.
