“Auto manufacturers have completely lost the plot”: EU and UK manufacturers are trying to sell electric cars that consumers don’t want

According to recent data, the European Union’s demand for electric vehicles (“EVs”) has continued to fall, with a significant slump in sales in France and Germany, the region’s two largest markets for battery electric vehicles.

In the latest sign that the brakes have been slammed on the EV revolution, figures showed that registration of battery-only powered cars in the European Union was down 44 per cent compared to August last year.  The region’s two biggest markets for EVs saw sales shrink by double-digits; Germany saw a 68.8% drop in EV sales while France recorded a 33.1% decline.

With the average price of EVs being £51,000, 31% higher than petrol or diesel models, consumers are rejecting EVs.

In the video below, Geoff Buys Cars (“Geoff”) takes a look at This is Money’s article that details the ongoing crisis in the European automotive industry as the electric vehicle movement continues to stall.

What his analysis of cars being sold by manufacturer shows is that people are still buying cheap new cars.  But the car manufacturers have all moved away from making cheap new cars, Geoff said.

“Their offering is completely wrong,” he said. “Instead of looking at what the market wants, they followed what they want for profit and shareholders and government incentives without actually thinking about their consumers and the people that buy their cars.”

The Volkswagen Golf was the bestselling car in Europe for 34 years and it’s not even in the top 10 list for August.  In fact, BMW is selling more new cars than Volkswagen.  So, what’s going on?

This is Money’s article tells us: “Car makers are now at risk of multi-billion-euro fines if they miss new targets designed to encourage take-up of electric vehicles to cut carbon emissions.  Manufacturers also face the prospect of fines in the UK for missing draconian green targets.  The threat comes amid a mounting backlash against EVs from motorists.  Auto Trader warned that the high price of battery-powered cars is putting off British drivers.”

“The automotive manufacturers have completely lost the plot,“ Geoff said. “’Green’ is just a brand name, it doesn’t mean anything.”

“[Car] manufacturers need to stand up to the government lobbyists who are trying to push these mandates.”

While previously it was a hobby culminating in writing articles for Wikipedia (until things made a drastic and undeniable turn in 2020) and a few books for private consumption, since March 2020 I have become a full-time researcher and writer in reaction to the global takeover that came into full view with the introduction of covid-19. For most of my life, I have tried to raise awareness that a small group of people planned to take over the world for their own benefit. There was no way I was going to sit back quietly and simply let them do it once they made their final move.

The problem is big fines when EV quotas are not met . All motor manufactures are attempting to comply with Government demands. the problem is in meeting the WEF demand that our mobility is restricted to our 10 mins cities. I see no relief from this, Owning nothing and being happy is the only tale these fools know and without a full scale global revolution there is no reversal. The US election hold the sway here if Trump is elected changes may happen,

Trump is a fully fledged member of the cartel – they are very adept at playing both sides.

He shut the country down over a fake virus, then let his family profit off of running track and trace. Now he’s pushing DeFi if he gets elected, and his family will profit from that. DeFi also has social credit score, but he doesn’t mention it.
Crushed small businesses and picked winners from his circle of friends, who received trillions while 350 million people shared 1/4 or less of the amount.
He’s fully fledged, that’s for sure. Rabbis wouldn’t give him their silver crown if he wasn’t. The silver crown, btw, is the one at the feet of Sagittarius (one of the 4 horseman along with Perseus, Scorpio and the Summer Triangle. In his own words, “I’m not Christian”.

“Trump” is not mentioned anywhere in the above article. Go somewhere else with your off-topic politics.

When you interfere in the free market and try to enforce demand the system collapses. Just see how the communist 5 year plans always failed.

Areas that have evacuation routes should not have EVs in them. Politicians allowing EVs in these areas should be held liable for any deaths or losses of property due to inaccessible evacuation routes.
How are Floridians supposes to evacuate when 1500 dead EVs clog the highway?
On top of that, modern cars don’t come with spare tires. Instead, it’s roadside assistance. This is done to keep profits and stocks up, but nobody is working roadside assistance in an evacuation, and politicians that allow them should be held liable.

Auto makers didn’t “lose the plot”. The “plot” writers simply made sure the auto makers would all fail in the end. The ignorant technocrats in the government thought they could shoe-horn everybody into electric, but the market rules these things so people didn’t buy. What do people really want? A nice car that they can AFFORD!

Would anyone feel comfortable charging those fire hazards in their garage or next to their house? Once they ignite, good luck putting them out. I’m sure car insurance is crazy high on them for a variety of reasons (none good).

It just makes no economic sense at all, either in a micro or a macro sense. You could probably justify it on cost per mile basis if you had a huge commute to work. But it’s sure to kill the auto industry and send all the jobs to China since the Chinese already control the battery source. When you buy an EV, you’re really buying a battery in a fancy case.
