Sir Keir Starmer’s efforts to secure a free trade deal with the US are at risk due to a free speech row.
The US State Department has expressed concern over freedom of expression in the UK, particularly concerning the case of Livia Tossici-Bolt, an anti-abortion campaigner who was prosecuted for holding a sign near an abortion clinic in Bournemouth.
A source familiar with trade negotiations has warned that there should be “no free trade without free speech.”

President Donald Trump is set to impose tariffs on imports from all countries, including the UK, starting tomorrow, 2 April. The UK government is bracing for these tariffs and Prime Minister Starmer has admitted that the likelihood of tariffs hitting the UK is high.
Despite the looming tariffs, the UK and US are still in talks to negotiate an economic deal. The UK’s Business Secretary, Jonathan Reynolds, has stated that free speech has not been a part of the tariff negotiations.
However, The Telegraph reports, in a highly unusual step on Sunday night, the US state department issued a statement saying it was “concerned about freedom of expression in the United Kingdom” and was “monitoring” the case of anti-abortion campaigner Livia Tossici-Bolt. Tossici-bolt was prosecuted for holding a sign near a Bournemouth abortion clinic reading: “Here to talk if you want.” A verdict in the case is due on Friday.
Asked about the comments, a source familiar with trade negotiations told The Telegraph there should be “no free trade without free speech,” a stance thought to have become a point of contention between the two nations.
An official from the US Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labour, a bureau within the Department of State, said: “US-UK relations share a mutual respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. However, as Vice-President Vance has said, we are concerned about freedom of expression in the United Kingdom … It is important that the UK respect and protect freedom of expression.”
The UK government has sought to downplay the issue’s relevance to formal trade talks. A Whitehall source said: “We know it is something they have a bugbear about. We are happy to have discussions on our broader, wide-ranging relationship. I don’t think enhancing our economic engagement that is beneficial for both countries is contingent on this particular issue.”
UK Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds denied that US concerns about free speech in Britain had played any part in trade talks, saying that such worries were being expressed by the State Department rather than trade negotiators.

I have great respect for that Lufthansa pilot. I pray that more pilots will refuse to poison their fellow man (and themselves and their own families, makes no sense). I’m not saying that the US is not at the forefront of chemtrailing, but I am sure other countries are also involved. It’s a worldwide, coordinated activity. Only Satan could pull that off. If you go on Planefinder, you can track the planes in your sight, as they fly over in real time.
I asked a friend of mine who worked in radar, at a nearby airfield, if he could track these planes.
He came back and said these Chemtrail planes, were at 35,000 feet, and were military.
Sounds like a wind up. Just checked with my former colleagues at National Air Traffic Services and you are talking butter ollocks

I have a Flight 24 log from Cardiff that you could try and explain. 1.30 am flies from Cardiff to Cornwall and does circles over a bay at differing altitude then flies home. Reverend. As an Engineer who studied combustion I to used to spout the contrail argument. However it’s not really “The” argument. You see over the last few years they have been experimenting with new bio fuels, engineered fuels and graphene oxide additives etc. All of this goes on and the trails, whether you believe they are Chem or Con, are lingering longer. Not all planes give the same output at the same altitude. The skies no longer stay clear and hence we are affected by them. We shouldn’t have to put up with it. Transparency is required and better monitoring and reporting at a government level. No flight should go un-monitored.

Hi Reverend Scott, am I to understand from your responses that you have no explanation why officials in multiple countries have openly talked about geo-engineering and what is colloquially known as chemtrails?
Is it possible that you dare not look into it because it scares you? Perhaps you feel chemtrails are something out of your control and you’re only comfortable when you’re in control of things?
I believe a lot of people who have a fear of flying (aviophobia) have a fear born out of not being in control. Because they’re not in the driving seat, so to speak, they feel the plane is out of their control (particularly if something goes wrong) and so they develop a fear of flying. People with aviophobia recognise they have a problem and want to over come it, which is admirable don’t you think?

Almost everyone on the planet who knows what an aeroplane is, knows the difference between a chemtrail and contrail. It really isn’t that difficult to spot the difference (and on occasion smell the chemicals in the air or touch the residue on objects when it falls). Plants also can tell the difference, the chemicals get into the soil and affect their growth.
Secondly, your belief that they are trying to fill the entire atmosphere with chemtrails, is your own twist in the story. I don’t know where you got that from, I haven’t seen anyone else mention it.
As for “hubristic officials” who’s opinion you don’t care about. I’m guessing you only care about the opinions from people who agree with you, and ignore the evidence to do so.

Atmospheric modification could include any attempt to alter the composition of the atmosphere to try to change local weather patterns or affect the climate to curb global temperature rise. It’s been going on since the Vietnam war.
