There were two related trending stories on Ground News yesterday. Figures Show Record High of Almost Three in 10 Conceptions Ending in Abortion
In 2022, almost three in 10 conceptions in England and Wales ended in legal abortion, reaching 29.7%, according to the Office for National Statistics.
There were 247,703 conceptions that led to legal abortion in 2022, a 13.1% increase from 218,923 in 2021, as reported by ONS data.
Girls under 16 had the highest percentage of conceptions ending in abortion, at 61%, according to ONS figures.
Women aged 30 to 34 had the lowest percentage of conceptions leading to abortion in 2022, at 20.5%, according to ONS statistics.

Four in 10 Babies Born in Britain Have Foreign-Born Parents: ONS
In 2024, 40.4% of babies born in Britain had at least one foreign-born parent, up from 35.1% in 2021, according to the Office for National Statistics.
London led with 84.4% of births to foreign-born parents, followed by Brent at 83.9%.
33% of all births in England last year were to foreign-born mothers, with Indian mothers accounting for 4.4% of these births, as reported by the ONS.
Migration expert Nuni Jorgensen noted that the rise in births to migrant parents is linked to more people moving to the UK, as younger adults tend to have more children.
