He made Patel the Home secretary – a woman who, in 2017, had lied to the PM – Theresa May, Patel had lied about her activities on a trip to Israel and when she was found out, she thought the appropriate course of action was to lie to the PM, so, in appointing her to a top post, Johnson must see lying as the appropriate way to act when you are in a sticky spot. Boris must approve of liars, and he sets a good example.
