In the video below, StacheD reports on how little time people have to get out of harm’s way when an electric bike catches fire and the dangers these vehicles pose to people in enclosed spaces, such as a subway car (or underground carriage).
Last year, Pat, host of StacheD’s podcast, spent a day “riding the New York Subway” with John Orlando, a retired Fire Department of the City of New York (“FDNY”) fire marshal who ran the lithium-ion battery task force. Orlando expressed concerns about the dangers e-bikes pose to subway passengers (Watch HERE).
For a long time, we could only speculate about the risk that e-bikes pose, Pat said, but now data has emerged from the Fire Safety Research Institute (a division of UL Research Institutes).
Located in Columbia, Maryland, USA, the institute focuses on evidence-based solutions to improve fire safety worldwide. It set up a full-scale intercity commuter railcar and forced four separate battery failures inside it. They then measured exactly how fast the smoke spreads, how fast visibility disappears and how much time passengers actually have to get out.

Whoever in-charge of the public transportation allowed Lithium-Ion battery inside enclosed public transportation are absolute morons.
Why just prohibition in public transport..? Houses also pose a real risk & threat. Just banned the battery altogether.

Yup. Lithium-ion batteries should never have seen the light of day in the first place. Environmental destruction from lithium mining is horrendous, and safe disposal impossible. The entire lithium-ion manufacturing base is a house of cards on fire and they know it…
I think Elon is making a better battery that won’t explode.
Even then.. electric fields comes with magnetic fields, electric cars are serious health-risk and proven to cause infertility. Sun’s (Save us now, Mark Steel) substack channel… long detailed video about the harm and that they are aware, same with public transport.
I always thought biking was a fun sport, don’t take, the fun exercise away with a battery. Kids and adults have become lazy even with fun activities, and that is a crying shame.
If e-bikes are bad, how much more dangerous are electric cars. One of these days one of them is going to cook off on a ferry or in the Eurotunnel.
